Joined Up Thinking Watch With the reports that Jack Clarke will be loaned to QPR, somehow this has morphed into Eberechi Eze will be joining us in the summer So who are we going to get for loaning them Luke Amos for the season? ...yeah, about that On that note Batshit Rumour of the Day 90mins has suggested that we'll be signing Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard in a deal that sees them get Wanyama plus a six-month loan of Parrott
Levy should probably try for €15m but if he can't get it take the €10m, don't push Inter too hard and cause them to wait til the summer. Reinvest whatever we get back into Piatek/ new RB.
Yes I was thinking along similar lines I think Fergusson used similar tactics. In fact it was almost the norm at one time that it was always very hard to break into the first team, Bobby Robson was another who used this method. Fans always want to see the new players but equally they can be quick to get on their backs if things don't go right. The psychology of management is not always immediately obvious but it's a lot more than just picking the best eleven. By the end of this season Spurs will look quite different I suspect as the methods of Jose become more obvious and it will be interesting to see because I think he is well aware of the Spurs philosophy and the lessons he learned at United, where fans also demand a certain style to their football, will not have been lost on him.
Not Levy's way mate, he is more likely to hold out until the last day of the window hoping for a better offer. I can hear the phone call Now Levy to Inter, erm that £10m you offered, we decided to take it. Inter to Levy, too late mate we got someone else cheaper.
Selling players he tends to get done reasonably quickly providing he gets a sufficient enough offer. I wouldn’t be completely surprised if the deal was done before the weekend or just after. It’s the buying where he’ll try and really haggle over every penny and leave it late in the hope of a fee lowering.
Don’t even ask how I’ve stumbled across this because I can’t quite remember (random twitter ****). *Had to google translate the original piece* FC Porto's Cape Verdean striker Zé Luís is very close to being a Tottenham reinforcer, according to SIC Notícias. Zé Luís is expected to move to England along the lines of the Gedson Fernandes lending deal. Businessman Jorge Mendes will be involved in the business. José Mourinho is expected to strengthen the London team with two players who played in the Portuguese league.
I think it’s because we’re unsure where we’ll be come the summer in terms of European football. Whether that be CL (doubtful), EL (slightly doubtful) or nothing (probable), so if we do miss out on the big bucks it makes sense to do loans now and then ideally spend in the summer with the hope of getting back into a top four position and beyond for next season. Because if we spend big now and still fail to reach the CL it’ll probably result in minimal activity in the summer and we’ll still have a squad who aren’t good enough of getting top four. Either that or we’ve got a big ****ing transfer lined up this window that’s taken up all the budget
My sources say ‘edging closer’ which suggests Levy is off to Sainsbury’s this morning to buy a multi bag of Wotsits
