I suppose I'll get told to mind my own business here, possibly justifiably so, but I'd be very interested to know what percentage of modding on this board stems from the politics thread. I'd wager it's a very high amount.
Well, as we weren't asked whether we wanted an E&P thread in the first place we should just tell the mods to bin it without consulting anyone.
To me, the successful sticky threads have everyone positing on them, not just 4 or 5 people. Not saying the environment isn't important at all (it is) button a football forum it doesn't need to be stuck to the top IMO. Not trying to create ****, just saying.
As I said before, if its popular enough, it'll stay near the top anyway. It's the scrolling through 5 out of 6 non football stickied threads I disagree with.
I have no issue with it not being stickied. I leave it up to the majority to decide - if there are no posters it’ll fall down the rankings and disappear .....
What device are you using for goodness sake? It takes about 0.1 seconds to scroll past the sticky threads.
I can't see how any thread that is a sticky can offend anyone, especially one dealing with the most important subject of our time. If it isn't of interest, like the Prediction League isn't of any interest to me, does it really have to get under anyone's skin? It's only a thread and people don't have to read it? I don't bother with the Prediction League thread cos it doesn't float my boat, but it isn't a problem and I'm happy that others enjoy it.
Kaito, as I said to Chilcs no one is denying the environment is hugely important, but this is a football forum and the most important subject on a football forum is football. The E&P thread was already stickied within the rabbit hutch, so it was always there for those that wanted to read it. There is really no need to fill up the stickied area with more off topic subjects. If anything it should be less off topic and more football related.
That is what I think - the sticky threads for the 'goto' football related threads, the off topic in the normal. They will stay near ht stop if people post on them. This is not denying the importance of the environment, just that sometimes I come here to get away from the crap happening in the world to discuss football, not get the world thrown back at me.
I see where you are coming from but if the most important subject in our lifetime is given some permanent space at the top of a football forum then it just reinforces how desperate the situation is. It doesn't detract from the football posts in any way and if it leads to a few people making changes to their lifestyle, or maybe others picking up on it from outside the forum, then it has to be positive. The thing I find interesting about this forum is the huge variety of things people are interested in and pass on to others and the amount of knowledge there is about all sorts of things, even biscuits. Seriously though, we are all different and the world we live in is in big trouble so the more talk there is about it the better the chance of attitudes and complacency changing.
But what I have found is that most arguments on here are on the off topic threads not the football ones
