U23s have just taken the lead:

Edmondsdon nicks it from Crewe just inside the home half, drives forwards and then switches it left to Shackleton ion the edge of the area. Lovely little dig into the top corner from the midfielder’s left boot. Exquisite finish.

Conditions in Crewe shyte but Leeds are 0-1 up through Shacks with a great top corner finish created by Edmondson. Leeds have plenty of the ball and making Crewe look silly but conditions not helping and even though the rain is stopping the wind is swirling and getting stronger

Both 100% right,Klich was level for the off side, and have seen pens given for holding like that.

LDB gone to Den Haag on loan but have an option to buy in the Summer. He still has another 2 years on his contract, so not a great bit of business that one

Have been saying this all season, yes Bamford needs to score more but Harrison and Costa are equally to blame. You are right if you look at Liverpool Mane and Salah get a lot of their goals and their midfield, City are the same Sterling, Mahrez, Silva, KDB all scoring goals, of course, Aguero also. I honestly am not sure how anyone thinks Harrison is good enough, it has to be in his loan deal that he plays every week, of course now we have no other options.

We need a midfielder, winger and CAM if Roberts is never going to recover from his injuries.

as the man who was shot down in flames for daring to point out bamford's poor ratio of goals to expected goals <laugh>. It's only fair to point out that harrison, costa, klich and alioski all have less than expected.. though not to the same degree and obviously have fewer attempts.

Leeds U23s take a 1-2 win away from Crewe and another 3 points to challenge at the top of the league. Wild, windy wet, boggy conditions and not a great match to watch but hey its a win. Shackelton and Struijk score

Afternoon all. I turned the game off as soon as they scored on Saturday. It was pretty depressing especially since it was shortly after Monk made a defensive substitution.
I've lost count of the people I've spoken to who watched the Arsenal game and said they couldn't believe we didn't score.
The most frightening thing about our recent form isn't that we're still not scoring but, as the chart showed, we're now shipping loads.
If you're tight at the back you don't need to score many but because our defence is now suffering AND we're not scoring I'm really concerned.
I'm not looking forward to the next couple of games. Not only a trip to London but to play free scoring QPR then we host Nillwall's Cup Final.
Our 6 point cushion might not last.

TBF Alioski spends most of his games as left back.
Klich needs to score much more.

Looking through the earliest posts on this board, when Hullimus Erectus were the dominant species, I found this from one of the earliest members, none of whom seemed to stick around. This guy was Billy Boy and his post on April 20 2011 was, 'hope u are right but doubt it very much---its wat leeds allways do its like yhey dont want to go up'
He's been through the mill with LUFC.
With the occasional and very welcome interlude, Leeds have disappointed us since, as far as I remember back, the 1973 FA Cup final. Sorry to open up old wounds for those that remember it. Older supporters may remember previous times but that one really sticks in my mind.

Why can't they just do as well as they should given the support they get?

Warnock couldn't handle it but then took Cardiff up. Billy Sharpe struggled with us but then fired Sheff Utd to promotion. This season Costa and Douglas are a shadow of how they were for Wolves.

I'm not sure it's just Bielsa

whether he’s listed as a left back or not... he doesn’t spend much time there<laugh>

The figs I’ve quoted are just about the quality of chances they get and whether they take them. No doubt Alioski gets into a lot of great attacking positions for a left back... and quite a few terrible defensive ones as well <laugh>

... and yes I am aware our fullbacks are expected to charge forward, so am pretty forgiving when everyone asks where they were when we concede.

Again there's chances and chances, Alioski's because of where he plays are mostly out wide with a tight angle, not the same as a free header 6 yards out that you hit the stand roof with.
Don't think Alioski's goal ever 4 games is bad for an attacking Left Back. Mind we did have a player who scored a goal every one and a half games but didn't play him because, fans blamed him for not being a centre half when we conceded.

that’s what expected goals does chesh... factors in how far out, how tight an angle, whether it’s a header or shot, on the break or slow build up etc. It’s meant to level it out. As per other discussions on this... it isn’t perfect, just a better stat than goals to shot ratio

Don't bring up 73 another day we couldn't find the net. Alioski may well play at left back but he certainly isn't any good at it, charges around like ****ing lunatic. We have a very good team with bang average players that's why we struggle when pressed, real players make time ours don't or can't.

Fair weather fan. If you were a real fan you’d have been at Wren Kitchens with your wife like me.

(I wasn’t there with your wife, just to avoid any misunderstandings).
