To play Devil's Advocate for a bit though, chucking in new players who aren't prepared or up to speed could be detrimental.
Ndombele got crocked by it, then again when he wasn't 100% and was thrown back in.

Lo Celso always seems to show glimpses of what he's capable of and puts in the required effort when used, though.
Sessegnon never seems entirely sure of his role, but that might come if he got a few more games.
    Early days for them both.

Working hard is the bare minimum, Lo Celso needs to offer more than that. In his position we need goal threat, passing, creativity, the ability to dictate the game. So far I haven’t seen enough of that from him. £50million for him seems too much.

The fact that several of the squad aren't doing the bare minimum proves my point. Also, the fact that Lo Celso was in a position to score on Saturday serves as a perfect example of him having goal threat - and singling him out for missing a chance is nonsensical given Son and Lucas both spurned chances (and for that matter, Son's missed chance came as a result of Lo Celso dispossessing Wijnaldum)

Also, I have no idea where you're getting the £50m figure from, as the loan fee is £15m and we have a clause to make the loan permanent for £27m this month

The only similarity he has with Lamela is I'm reading the exact same arguments about him that I was about Lamela seven years ago, and those arguments were easily disproved then

Son and Lucas have both stepped up massively in the past, yeah they didn’t play great on Sunday but they usually have more good days than bad. so far I haven’t seen Lo Celso dominate a game or do anything which has wowed me.

£42million then, if such a good deal, why haven’t the club took the deal yet?

Lamela has hardly set the world alight at Spurs, a rabona in the Europa and winding up Jack Wilshere are probably his Spurs highlights.

There is an impatience with Lo Celso that wasn't the same with Son or Lucas when they first arrived for some reason.

Lo Celso is still getting up to speed with the PL, and he has been injury stricken also.

Even Modric needed a season or two to 'toughen up' to the league.

    Dear Daniel,

Here is a video that points out our obvious weaknesses and some cheap ways to rectify them.
I will thoroughly enjoy it when you complete ignore it and sign nobody.
Feel free to fail to get rid of any deadwood, too.

    Thanks, all Spurs fans everywhere.

Jose letting Levy know in his own unique way that we need new players by re iterating how no one but Toby can be rested due to lack of squad depth for the FA Cup replay

Mourinho being mourinho. Playing players to prove a point rather than for the benefit of the club

We're currently buggered in at least 2 directions.

Some players are being over used - Kane (now broken), Sissoko (also broken), Aurier, Toby, Lucas and Dele come instantly to mind.

Some are being under used - Foyth, Tanganga, Skippy, Sessegnon, Lo Celso, in particular.

I don't see that there's any less quality in the second group than most of the alternatives that Mourinho continually picks and in some cases they're, most likely, better options.

I'd be amazed if Lo Celso can't manage 70 minutes by now, Sessegnon the same. Is anyone really thinking that it's better to give Sessegnon no football and keep Rose on for 70 minutes? It's similar with Eriksen and Lo Celso, who's not getting fit playing 20 minutes here and there, whilst Eriksen dicks around for 70.

Mourinho has to use the squad properly for today, tomorrow and next season. For my money, he's not doing so and I don't think it's clever or in anyone's best interests...including his.

    Such as?

we defo need fullbacks and a competent DM

he’s been trying players in them positions

I dont get the negative fascination with Mourinho...he is doing what any manager does and that is to make the most of his squad...Poch did the same

only thing I will say is he shouldnt be giving Eriksen a look in but the rest of it...just because everyone says play Foyth and he didn’t? No one would have stuck Tanganga there before Foyth but Jose did and he had a great game.

when it was Poch everyone would give it the ..it takes 6 months minimum to get up to Poch’s requirements and intensity for new signings...won’t see the best of them till the next season etc

but now the same people have an issue because the same players aren’t playing every week for Jose, even though Jose himself seemed a bit miffed at Ndombele pulling a sicky against Norwich

Gedson undergoing a medical. Some journalists already saying it’s done and contract is signed/ set to be signed. Should be announced today or tomorrow morning I reckon.

Looks like Mark Warburton is yet again gonna nurture one of our lads - Clarke to QPR it seems. Best loan we could do, Warburton has been fantastic for us over the years. I reckon this could be a sweetener in a potential Eze deal too. Win-win for everyone.

  16. I’m with you, Bruv.

I don’t get all the Mourinho hatred. It disappoints me that some of our fellow supporters are beginning to sound like whinging Gooners.

    Give Mourinho a chance ffs!

It slightly worries me that we were linked with Gerson and Fernandes, then went for Gedson Fernandes.
I hope Levy hasn't got **** predictive text on his phone.

Since I saw Foyth play his first game (in the League Cup v Barnsley, at Wembley), I've been utterly convinced that he's not a centre back. I don't think that he ever will be. However, I think that he'd be a very good midfielder.

However, he's a good footballer and played well at right back at the end of the last season. Whether he's a long term answer to that problem, I'm not sure. However, playing a poor Aurier, until he breaks, is no kind of answer to any sensible question. That's where Mourinho is going with his selections.

As for Tanganga, Skipp and Parrott, they should all be getting some regular game time. Maybe not starting too many games (Parrott predominantly off the bench), but regularly getting on from the bench and starting when we need pace at the back or a bit more bite in midfield.

Nobody doubts that the squad needs significant surgery but picking options who are leaving or playing poorly, or not resting them is plain ****ing dumb. Mourinho's overplayed Kane and Sissoko. Unless he stops this bollocks, they won't be the only ones with long term injuries.

Jose was asked in his press conference about Gedson.

Said "I'm waiting on news but when I say I'm waiting, news can come or not". Then mentions that a new player wouldn't be able to play in the replay tomorrow anyway as only players already at the club during the first game can feature in a replay. So reading into that, I'd say Jose more or less knows Gedson will be a Spurs player either tonight or tomorrow morning as I can't see why he'd mention about the replay rules if something wasn't close to being done before the match.
