Sky Sports via Jim White saying that they are being told Southampton will back The Hoff and block any move for Che Adams. Turkish media reporting that Emre Mor is very keen to move to LUFC, his agent has travelled over to try and get it done but the club are hesitant because while Mor clearly has talent he has been in poor form for ages and has a history of attitude problems.
Was having a right good think over the weekend re. our forwards situation. Bamford has been getting pelters for his conversion rate - and rightly so - but he keeps himself in the team as we depend on his other contributions. So what's the answer? Well, unsurprisingly, I don't know. I was however watching some of the PL teams over the weekend. Citeh, Spuds & the Bin Dippers have a similar style to us. Do they rely on one guy up front to score most of their goals? Nope! As you'll no doubt be aware, there's usually quite a few in each of their teams who are classy finishers, and not all listed as strikers. And it works for them. Ideally, we should be similarly blessed. But we're not. If either of these PL teams lose 1 or even 2 of their finishers, it doesn't seem to bother them unduly. Yet with us, if we don't score, it's Bamford's fault. Always. But why? Signing Costa will cost twice the price of Bamford. Harrison will be £1m more than him. How reliable are they as scorers? Not, is the answer. So why is it Bamford that everyone focuses on when he's actually our top scorer? Yes, he's got a poor conversion rate, but at least he's in the right place at the right time. More difficult to do that than to score. But the others are similarly afflicted, AND don't appear to be in the right place at the right time as often. Costa for me has been the biggest disappointment this season. Poor at scoring, assisting, heading, and most notably, defending á la Nketiah. Will cost twice what Bamford cost, with a fraction of his goals, about the same assists & heading ability, and little or no hold up or defensive contribution. Basically, he can run fast & get a cross in. We could have saved the prospect of wasting £15m & just kept on Sakho. Similar stats. Disappointingly. And yet it's all Bamford's fault!
Bamford is the one who gets and misses the chances, Harrison and Costa's main job is to create the chances, which they do, shown by the amount of chances Bamford misses, they should also score a few, which Harrison is getting better at TBF, Costa like Bamford has a long way to go to do his job well, not sure he gets away without the blame though, heard plenty blaming him just as you are.
Says it all as far as I am concerned. https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/leeds-united-realised-joke-isnt-17557165
Liverpool, City, Spurs all have a striker and at least 2 others who contribute goals almost like having a front 3 or 4 which is exactly what Bielsa is trying to do, or in reality those prem teams use Bielsas system or variance of it to better effect, as WJ was saying. Our problem is that our version of Mane', Sterling, Silva, Ferminio are called Harrison, Costa, Klich and Alioski. Lets be honest here our players are in a different league literally to the other teams. Our players cost a fraction and are paid a fraction of what they get and therefore only get a fraction of the goals/conversions etc. We need a reality check because we are getting frustrated by seeing chances missed.
And yet many other championship teams have strikers with much better strike rates than us, it is possible to have a championship version of City, Liverpool and Spurs, but not with Bamford, let's face it if Eddie was still here, lots would have blamed Eddie for playing the last 5 mins on Saturday, but with him having gone back, we just see the truth, Bamford while doing his best, isn't the goal scorer we need.
Will Huffer has been on loan at Conference side Barnet. He has two appearances this season. I can see Leeds releasing him.
We are probably the only club in all 4 English leagues with 1 fookin striker in the squad, why, do we get 2,000 gates, do we sell 50 shirts a season, have we never been on tv for years. It's been common knowledge Eddie has been going back for 2-3 months, why have we done nothing about it, apart from saying we want a player who's not for sale.why are we going down the same path we've gone down and failed for the last 10 years.
I think you have answered your own question Time for leaving Bamford alone we are asking too much of him time he got some help up front about time Orta pulled his finger out and got this help instead of wasting money on players who don’t turnout to be any good in our system
Can't you see it's part of our big plan,if they all stood side by side on the goaline,we could then fill the goal, so opposing teams cannot score a goal from their first attempt on target, a brilliant plan from Leeds, that might actually work
Afternoon all... I blame all our attackers for missing too many chances and poor decision making, Bamford does seem to miss more than anyone else but unless Bielsa changes the defend from the front attitude I can't see how we are going to fix it. Kiko has cost us a few points recently, but take the Wednesday game, better keeping for the first goal and we might have got 0-0 so you could say Kiko cost us a point. If Harrison and Bamford had scored from their chances we would have had three points, they are costing us more than any keeping errors are. In regards to the striker, as long as Bielsa says yes I want him and I'll be able to use him within a couple of weeks I don't care who we get. If we get someone and Bielsa decides it is going to take 6-8 weeks to get him match fit forget it
Dwight Gayle suffered a recurrence of his hamstring injury over the weekend and we’re sure that will rule Leeds out.
Bamford took his goal on Saturday and the linesman ruled it offside. I am of the opinion that Klich was level with the defender when the ball was passed to him, he wasn't offside. The other good chance Bamford had could have been a penalty, he did well to even get his head to the ball the way he was being dragged back by the defender.
