Nasri injured but talented squad player?? I agree he was sometimes injured, but squad player, I beg to differ, we paid 12-15mill for a squad player? This is Arsenal we are talking about. I contend since his arrival, he was an integral member of the team..... We can cry all we like about players being tapped up, it happens all the time, I seem to recall SAF (in the summer) telling the world he knew where Nasri was heading to (Wenger and the Board were still wasting their time trying to persuade him), as they had already approached him..... I doubt very much Arsenal gave them permission to talk to him. But we will never know why our beloved team do the things they do, we can only speculate.....
I'm amazed at the company line that is placed on this board Piskie. What would you call the state of play our beloved club is in now if it is not a crisis? You'll have read the statistics some of us have placed on the board so I take it there won't be a need to repeat them here.
I've said before, things can change very quickly in football. A couple of good results and it will all change. We actually played pretty well at Blackburn. Had we not made silly defensive errors (yes I know it's a problem) then we would have all been saying that Wenger is brilliant and has turned it around with his signings. I believe that Wenger will address the problems at our club and that we'll have a good season. Judge me and wenger at the end of the season. I'll be the first to hold my hand up if I'm wrong. Will you do the same?
We've stuck by this grand plan for how many seasons now Piskie? I really am beginning to lose count. And if I join you in leaving judgment till the end of the season friend, could I still in the meantime continue discussions in the same vein if circumstances call for it?
Of course, I'm not guardian of your views, you're free to express them as you wish. I just think that we're actually in pretty good shape. We need to sort out our defensive problems, that's a given. If we can (and I think we will) then we will be right back on track. We are not that far off and a million miles from a crisis
These past seasons have always been a case of so near and yet so far. I wish I could share your optimism and would do so readily but for the form we are in, of which there seems to be no end. I'll wait out all of October and see what happens. If fourth place is not on the radar then I fear I may have to look for that pack of razor blades I put aside after last evening Enjoy
WE are in pretty good shape ? You cannot be serious dude !! I'll qualify that: Our defence is one of the worst in the entire league if not THE worst. Our midfield is powder puff, up front we are ok. We are further now from having a winning team than at any point in Wenger's reign. We were lucky to win against Shrewsbury. We looked good against a team that were relegation fodder all season last year, a very poor Blackburn side. there is being an optimist and their is being deluded, you fall into the latter category I am afraid.
I'd say exactly the same about your comments I think we're not far off, if we can sort out our defensive problems then we will be fine.
true wenger shouldnt be sacked, and its the boards decision to work out the wage cap not wenger same with the transfer budget, ppl just want to blame wenger for every thing just so they can keep on moaning. and nasris 90k was good enoughno way does 6 months good form warrant and pay rise to 150k
PISKIE 'I think we're not far off, if we can sort out our defensive problems then we will be fine.'' Define fine? Will win something this season? Will we finish in Top3? Will we finish in Top4? Will we have the best record for the 2nd half of the season?
Well I haven't got a crystal ball - but if we sort out our defensive problems then I think we'll finish in the top 4
We should ignore the result against the Shrews as the team in the next few games is likely to very different. It is the first team that should be judged - not a mix of youth and newly signed reserves.
The thing is sorting out our defense is not as easy as you are making out Piskie. If it was it would have been done years ago but instead its got worse.
I agree with that. Its not only the back 4 that need work on the defensive front. You need to work with the whole team to get everyone working on the same tune.
Agree. The bolton game is the next relevant one. If we blow that one, we really are in the doghouse. Europa league, anyone?
