maybe it’s just playing against his former club? Showing a bit of restraint?

You could be right there mate, I'd forgotten about that <doh>

I've just ran through it again and he does look embarrassed when Maguire is ragging their keeper after the penalty.

If he was their CB who gave away the pen he had a mare, rattled as soon as the first goal went in.

Based on those highlights, it looks like we're holding on to the ball much better in the final third. That's something that had been lost from Ross' team towards the end, in fact pretty much from the time Maja left. But, if I remember correctly, wasn't McGeady playing less towards the beginning of last season? Perhaps not a coincidence?

Nice to see some positivity. We’re 6 points off top with a game in hand! And the in form side

interesting point. McGeady was playing less I believe at the start due to injury (may be wrong there)

Suppose you have to look at 2 players in McGeady and Maguire. Neither pulling their weight. McGeady decides he’s bigger and more important than the club and tells the manager to stick it. Maguire knuckles down, loses weight and looks sharp as a fresh razor blade. Wonder if Lafferty arriving may be good fir Wyke too. Bit of competition.

interesting to hear the thoughts of the “sick of this hoofball” lot. They seem to be awfully quiet of late.

Let’s not forget, we had a goal disallowed against Bolton for nothing and a penalty against us for Fleetwood fir nothing. Otherwise we’d be sitting 3rd right now 2 points from top!!

I remember a couple of away games that McGeady definitely didn't play in but Gooch and Honeyman did and we absolutely steamrollered whoever it was (Gillingham and ....... I think). People went on about Honeyman not being good enough but those two were full of energy and we pressed high without the ball and kept it well when we did have it. I always thought that losing Maja was what lost us that aspect but now I'm wondering if it was McGeady's presence.
You're right about Maguire. Glad he's knuckled down.

Fantastic yesterday, we closed them down and played good quick football. There’s definitely something in it being better without McGeady. Everything had to go through him and he would rather shoot from 30 yards than play someone through. We also look fitter, Gooch has made a difference and Maguire looks like a team player now.

A while back I said that "The 3 Amigos" ie M, M and G should never be seen on the same team sheet ever again, and suggested playing MacGeady or Maguire in the hole behind a front man, or not at all. I nominated McNulty up front and two quicker players on the flanks. PP has more or less given us this with, a rejuvenated Maguire and even more unexpected or unrecognisable Charlie Wyke, who still needs to score more goals, but that is not his sole contribution to the team effort. Al la Grigg. Time will tell if Maguire can maintain his current form, but I worry that if he returns to type, a distinct possibility, who could fill his boots. I would suggest Embleton from the current squad, (assuming that McGeady has no future here now). The indication that PP is going down the safer route by overlooking Robson and erring on caution, was the one slight disappointment yesterday.

Our midfield look much more dynamic without Leadbitter.

I would have settled for that a few weeks back. That second goal was sublime. Quest didn't do it justice, as it only showed the last few passes. Big Charlie didn't score it, but played a huge part (twice) in keeping the move alive.

A totally professional team performance. I know Wycombe weren't great, but not many teams totally outplay them like we did.

I don't mind saying that after the Bolton match, I was one of those who doubted Parky was the right man for the job. Now, I'm pleased to say, I'm firmly joining in with the Parky party! Haway The Lads!

Which is why we either need to involve Robson, or bring another midfielder in, for when Power or Dobson are missing.

    That was a wild ride.

Their keeper was getting on my wick with his stupid kicking routine but in fairness to them him booting it forwards was their one and only tactic so I guess that's why he makes a ceremony of it.
