VAR ruins another PL result. It's shocking at times and there is going to be absolute uproar at ER next season...maybe. Honestly, it's ruining the essence of football.
Quiet on here tonight. Understandable really as the tranny bar 3 are riding again tomorrow... Must be a lot of primpimg and preening going on I guess.
For me, the main difference on Monday second half was that Arteta had told the Arse to get in our faces (not a pleasant thought). We struggle against teams who turn the press back on us (Preston), and definitely against sides that bully us physically like the Gooners did, knocks us out of our stride and we lose our composure.
don’t disagree Davy... we struggle when sides press (like everyone I guess), and we’re small physically. I’m thinking back to the Man U game pre season.. pacy forwards skinning us on the counter
It’s only now that they’re appreciating it was all part of our master plan to lure them into a false sense of security
I agree to a certain extent. I think our problem 1st half wasn't Preston pressing us, it was our inability to beat the press. We had a shocker that first half. In the second half the passes started to hit their target and we played through them and then pushed them backwards. The Arsenal game was similar but in reverse. The Arsenal team just could not beat our press and the passes were going astray. 2nd half, the roles reversed Arsenal quality improved and Leeds lost their ability to beat the press as passes were not as accurate as they had been in the first half. Basically, if a team tries to match our press intensity then it actually plays in to our hands IF (big IF) we are on our game and are passing it well. We can play through and create overloads in their half of the pitch. The flip side is that if we play badly then the opposition get to create overloads on us. It's why Bielsa always says that he likes brave players who are willing to play risky football in order to implement his game plan. It's why Ayling is one of his favourites. Yes, alot of passes go astray but if the pass gets there then we are away. Bielsa would rather that than Berardi battering away and launching the ball down the line in a safety first approach.
Gotta love kids football on a Saturday morning... my 5 year old has just taken 2 of the opposition out with a flying scissor tackle. He got some of the ball but I’m sensing from the looks I’m getting that it’s not considered a mitigating factor by the other parents. He does have previous.
My lad at 7 was a bit of a Batty, was told he couldn't slide in like that, even though he nearly always got the ball, they coached it out of him, he gave up, it was his game and the namby pambies got their way.
... the only rarity with this tackle was he did get some of the ball. He seems to think football is a form of Kung fu and the round thing that the other kids chase after is something of an irrelevance... he has that butter wouldn’t melt expression off to a t as well. Proper baby faced assassin Tune in for next week’s exciting instalment of the milkyboy kid... if they have us back!!
Phil Hay @PhilHay_ 2h Southampton’s board are open to letting Che Adams go, for a £1m loan fee and an obligation to buy. Adams is keen on Leeds but Hasenhuttl wants to keep him. It’s very easy to see from past displays how Adams would fit here - but can Leeds risk hanging on?
