My rent down here is £875 a month for a 1 bed flat in Sevenoaks. I don't mind paying that as I am in a decent area.

That's my monthly Army Pension (cheers lads) gone in a oner.

But that is what it is. The South East (London, etc) generates the income for the whole country - that will never change.

I just don't see how Scotland can become economically viable on its own - I really can't.

Of course there are. If there's a system and a gain to be had, there are always going to be those that try and work it.

But now, more than ever before, those that need the help are not those shagging the system. They are normal everyday people like you and I who work as hard (maybe harder) than you and I and just don't have the same opportunities we had. And I know you mocked it before but he being able to buy our first properties at 3x our annual salary and 5% deposit while living with family (or taigy inlaws) is not the reality now. Rents are sky high. Minimum wage compared to living wage (and even that's a joke) is a shambles. There's just no ****ing chance unless, as I said, you are born to the right people in the right area.

working your way up now isn't getting an apprenticeship, living at home during it and bunging your mum £100 digs and then getting a job straight away. It's companies, that don't pay Tax using the new found craze of unpaid internships because they won't hire at all without experience. This means that someone works 9 hours for **** all and then does their second/and third job after to get by and at the end of the internship only half are taken on as the company can just fill the roles with the next load of unpaid internships. It's a bullshit system fully designed to favour large companies that the Tory government refuse to tax because it's their Eton educated buddies that are CEO.

The Scottish government introduced national apprenticeships years ago. There are more apprentices now than there has ever been.
