Absolute horror show, that Arsenal game. Nearest I’ve ever come to walking out at half time. A couple of weeks later and we held them to a mere 1-0 defeat in Cardiff, but the game at Highbury sort of tainted the whole season. The 9-0 to Leicester is different; I wasn’t there, so it didn’t really happen, for a start.
Weirdly, I was there for that game - I was doing an email migration for Islington Council and the council offices are just round the corner. Also helped that a friend called me and said, "Can you make it to Highbury on Wednesday (I think it was a weds game?) after work as I have a box at the game". "Sure, I'll walk" I got a very confused reply on the phone as my friend thought I was working in Bournemouth
Agreed, but feel that really put the fear into WGS who didn't want us getting hammered in a cup final and played more damage limitation than he might have liked.
One of the strangest games I ever went to: Luhzny and Stepanovs who were terrible looked amazing, Pennant got a Hattrick and we brought on Chris Baird in midfield and decided it was a revelation!
Yeah can't disagree that they were a brilliant side. Probably would have got tonked there too if Claus had been sent off!
He actually said “You never know, it might happen again! It’s football – anything can happen.” in response to a question asking him if it could happen What else are you going to say?
Why the **** would we be nervous? We're 5 unbeaten, won at Chelsea and at home to Spurs and are playing well.
Players will be trying to restore their pride tomorrow and hopefully very resolute and determined. Lots of goals predicted: thus 0-0.
I don't see it that way, they'll be as embarrassed as we were, or should be at least, and determined for a bit of revenge to restore a bit of pride. Especially as Leicester have dipped in recent weeks and we know we'll be fresher after their cup semi. I think if we don't concede in the first 20 we'll get at least a point. But I obviously want a win.
Totally agree it will be a massive motivation. But still think they’ll be nervous. Bit like AJ in his rematch with Ruiz.
