I mentioned about going for Zlatan a month or so back. Piatek’s a good striker though, don’t read too much into the four league goals this season. Milan have been just like us in terms of underperforming. He’s a good striker and a lot better than a standard “second choice striker” we’d usually get - providing we do sign him that is.
Cue numerous reports this evening saying we've approached Lyon about Dembele. Honestly you couldn't make this **** up. Only Spurs.
Poetry, eh? This is where I’m glad to have Jose though. His pulling power in the game means that we’re being linked to some very, very good strikers who wouldn’t usually come under the typical “second choice” striker at Spurs category. Of course whether we actually sign either of them is a different story but you can’t help but feel that we’d be linked to someone like Jay Rodriguez if Poch was still here - and I’m not trying to be disrespectful to Poch there, just highlighting the pull that Jose has and it’s something I expect more of this transfer window and others to come.
I don’t mean to write him off at all, just that the January premium and the fact everyone knows Spurs are desperate for a striker means he’s going to cost more than he should. Zlatan would have been ideal for many reasons for me.
its not just the sun now. It’s really gained momentum in the last 24 hours, and looks done. Can anyone say they actually know anything about this bloke and have seen him play? It stinks of a panic buy, which is understandable given the circumstances!
It’s definitely a panic buy - though necessary - but one of good quality. Won’t say I’ve seen loads but I’ve caught one or two games where I’ve had nothing else to watch - plus YouTube lol. Proper striker with a bit of everything is best I can describe, in the Kane mould and ironically he listed Kane and Lewandowski as his idols so hopefully that bodes well. I think it’s a really good deal if it happens, he’s a much, much higher standard of striker I’d have expected to get as an essential second choice and it’s something I’d give props to Jose for because I think his pulling power is a big factor in getting a player like this in. At an initial £28m it’s also great value, especially when the likes of Joelinton and Haller went for £40m+ and he’s easily better than those two. Edit: The only worry is that with our lack of creativity which has starved Harry in too many games, will he get the required service to bang them in?
Piatek Watch Oh boy... Gianluca Di Marzio says that a loan offer has been rejected, and we've made a permanent offer with Foyth and Wanyama included...which sounds like utter bollocks to me, frankly, given they have plenty of defensive options in midfield in Bennacer, Kessie, Biglia and Bonaventura so there's no way they'd want what remains of Victor Wanyama However, talk is certainly picking up about Piatek being in the country (as in our country, not the country Milan is in) and more journalists are putting their name to the story ...and one thing of note is that Pedulla may be considered Tier 3 for a lot of stories but he's considered Tier 1 for Milan, which is a vast improvement on Murdoch's Hate Comic
Update on the Di Marzio probably talking bollocks about Foyth & Wanyama being part of the Piatek deal: we're supposedly offering Wanyama in a deal for The Other Moussa Dembele according to FootMercato So, what, which half goes to which club?
So, let me get this straight. We are supposed to believe that we, the Hotspurs of Tottenham, are going for TWO strikers? TWO!!! ……and both in the same window?!? Somebody is telling porkies.
We've been linked with Dembele for years, including missing out on him via a Bosman. He counts as homegrown because of his time at Fulham, but I doubt Lyon will let him go in January, unless it's for massive money.
