I’m being told by quite a few businessmen both in this country and The EU........they are afraid that the EU may implode without the steadying influence of the UK.......... not necessarily over night. Could that happen? Is it likely do you think?

We have cut the tethers that bound us to safety of a big World player to drift into the isolation of the Atlantic being drawn more and more under the influence of the USA's giant magnet.

Sounds like wishful thinking Beddy, it will carry on the same without us and we need it more than they need us that's for sure.

The days of our World influence and Empire have long since past, the people and politicians have decided on a taking a huge gamble IMO.

The political system in this country is broken and more and more people are waking up to the fact that a new type of politics is needed. When the younger generations refuse to accept what they are served up by the same old worn out and corrupt system, and they will, things will begin to change. They already look at Iceland, New Zealand, Finland, Denmark and Norway as better alternatives with more representative 'people centric' politics.

The old order of politics will not deal with the climate crisis, which is a huge concern to young people. It will just huff and puff like it always does and think a few electric cars will sort it out, and then carry on sleepwalking into the inferno, whilst trying to find a form of words that they all agree upon to explain why it's so ****ing hot. That can only continue for so long, and the young people of today will have the final say on this, and be the bringers of change in the future.

Like a lot of us, my time here is almost done, but we have sons, daughters, grandchildren, nephews and nieces and I want for them to live in a better and much fairer society. They never asked for all this crap we have dumped on them and their future so it needs to be with them, and for them that change happens. Having seen these and many other youngsters grow up I can't help but feel deeply concerned for the fight they are going to have to change their world. I also believe they can do it.

mmm..........I’m not so sure..........there is quite a few countries thinking of going the same route I’m told. No mention of who I agree, Austria perhaps and may be the Netherlands is another to name a couple of rumours going about. No I don’t have any proof.........just speculation from friends........

Judging by your signature you're a Billy Bragg devotee, Kaito?

No, not according to Mark Rutte the last time we spoke, he's dismayed by the UK approach and is on record as saying so. That's a source Beddy as are my friends in Dutch security and Europol who regard brexit as "****ing stupid". We have a wide circle of international friends and acquaintances who would strongly disagree.
In what businesses are these people that you've been told by just to put some meat on the bones of your statement? Are there any websites or institutions that might give further information. I've seen plenty of unsubstantiated bollocks on the likes of Guido and similar.

Don’t you think though their fight is similar to ours when we were younger. We have had to contend with a couple or 3 wars from the 40s to the 80s. Thankfully we stayed out of the Vietnam war.......Our fights may have been different but the principle seems to be the same. Our ancestors went to war to aid our future. I just hope the youngsters of today don’t have to face those kind of things.

Not a devotee exactly, but I do like Billy Brag very much and believe he is one of the most politically honest and passionate people around. He really does care about a fairer society, a fairer world and the fact that every single person is as valuable as the next. He is definitely one of the good guys.

Fair enough although I’m not sure it’s meat on the bones. Engineering industry, Car industry, specialised computer industry which I take is technical side of engineering, textiles and a couple of others I’m not sure of. I want to make it plain it’s not me that thinks that it is just people I discuss things with.

Actually yes I do...........that was the thinking and reasons the people went to war. I’m not going get into a discussion on the rights or wrongs of any wars. Accept to say without them we possibly wouldn’t have the freedom we have today.

Things have changed these days Beddy. There was never the threat of mass species extinction or an overheating planet when I was younger, like there is today. With the ability of young people to find out information today and for them to fully understand the implications of what their future is looking like, they are not interested in fighting for a stupid bloody flag.

On a lighter note, this is how ridiculous 'fighting for the flag' really is so do watch it and have a giggle .....

I hope not. I would hate for europe to return to the constant wars that were present in europe throughout its history until the EU was formed and is still happening in Europe just outside the EU's borders.

Fair enough........just remember though we didn’t have the technology then we have today. Also the pollution wasn’t as bad then. That’s not not an excuse just a realistic summing up. I agree though as soon as the technology was available in the 80s and 90s and the realisation of what was happening more should have been done to combat it.
