Yes once in 100 years, not the best record. Villa have won it 7 times as well. Hate to say it but most of our success was nearly half a century ago hoping for the title this year, then investment and a proper challenge for silverware over the next few years and beyond.
It was a perfect result for us...an honorable defeat and no more cup games this season. West Brom, by the way, are into the 4th round and already have one more game than us.
If there is a third Euro competition, it can be for the winners of the cup. No-one is going to agree to financial penalties for losing. I agree with scrapping the replay though - they no longer do for the final so we do so for the 3rd round etc ? Underdogs are already rewarded by having another tie.

That owl was also our badge from 1965 to 1971 though, and in fact the owl had featured on our club badge since when Leeds City were playing football, given that 3 owls are on the crest of the city of Leeds. Don ditched it on favour of the LUFC letters badge as he believed that birds were bad luck , although that badge only lasted 2 seasons before my favourite badge of the smiley face was introduced
Don't think 1 is viable, you can't give a CL spot to a team that might have won 5-7 games and only played one premier league time in the process (would we want Wigan playing Champions league??) and who gets it if (as usual) one of the top four win it. Here's a question that will see where we all stand with the FA cup (nostalgia excepted). What deflated / pissed you off more and hurt longer? Losing to Arsenal or to Fulham, Charlton, drawing with Preston etc.?
I think you're wrong, I saw my first Leeds game in 1967 probably before you were born since you don't even recognize the club crest we had in those days.
Easy, drawing with Cardiff. Nothing else has made me scream at my computer monitor this season. We want England's best four teams in the CL every year, no some jammy lower half of the table "park the bus team".
Agree on the Cardiff thing but not the cl thing Poly. Makes no difference to the average fan What four four are in the cl if their own club aren’t..it’s only a cash cow to make the big clubs bigger and leave all the others in their wake. It’s the main reason the pl is now so top heavy. If like any club to be able to get a slice of the cl pie
