3 times. 1905 and 1988 and webbeat them in 1912/1912 season as well.

Remember the 1988 game. Chelsea played us off the park. How we won that convincingly I don’t know.
I know a Chelsea fan who took his young lad along for his first game to indoctrinate him. He told me his lad had said to him, after we had scored our third, if that other lot are as bad as you were telling me what does that make Chelsea? Less than 7,000 there.

Yes. Didn’t notice the 1925 when I was looking. Thought you had made a typo for the 1905 one.

 

i used the head-to-head option on soccerbase and it gave assorted totals.

 

I had a look at another head to head site and that only shows us as having 3 wins at the top. Will have to have a look down the list and see if they show all 4.

That's grand, because if we don't win, they'll get done for breaking the law of averages.

 

I quite fancy us to win this one if Grant plays a strong team. We have struggled sometimes against lower teams that sit back and defend and invite us onto them. Away, we have looked dangerous on the counter-attack same as Fulham away, which is likely to be the case against Chelsea at home. Soak up the pressure hit them on the break

 

I think we have little chance in this one, draw if we're lucky. It'll be interesting to see Bowen up against a PL defence though.

 

The thing is Man Utd have a load of “fans” who take advantage of the opportunity to see them for the first time or once in a season for cup games so will still have a decent crowd, more than most clubs can get in their ground. Same with their European nights.
