LFC injury update: Mane, Keita, Lovren, Milner and Shaqiri

Naby Keita could be available for Sunday's FA Cup clash with Shrewsbury Town but Liverpool await further news on Sadio Mane's hamstring injury.

Dejan Lovren is in contention for the fourth-round tie at New Meadow, though James Milner and Xherdan Shaqiri are unlikely to be involved.

The manager was asked for an update on Mane, who was withdrawn after ‘feeling something’ in the first half of Thursday’s win at Wolverhampton Wanderers, at his pre-match press conference.

“No, I think he is in the scan in this moment,” replied Klopp. “They didn’t call me out of the scan, so, no. [Fingers crossed], yes.”

On other fitness concerns in his squad, the boss said: “Dejan trained completely normally, until the game it’s a week [back] so should be fine.

“For Shaq and Millie, I think it’s too early. Naby, we will have to see. My information is that he will be part of training today and then we have to see.

“It was not too long, but how he looks and so on. For the boys that didn’t play longer than a half yesterday, today will be a very, very important session and kind of an intense session.

“It’s minus two [days] to the game so there is always intensity. We will see if he can be part of that completely – then he would be an option. If not, then not.”

According to Man City fans, if we don't have Mané and Van Dijk injured for most of the season then we're just "lucky" and it's a #taintedtitle

Hendo is a twat....as somebody who's wife is disabled I am disgusted with him for taking up two disabled parking spaces at the Spire hospital when he went for a scan!!!!

    Jordan Henderson injury details confirmed

Jordan Henderson is likely to be sidelined for around three weeks with a hamstring injury.

The Liverpool captain sustained the issue in the latter stages of Tuesday night’s 1-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last 16.

He is now set to miss several matches after medical assessments confirmed a lay-off, Jürgen Klopp revealed at a press conference on Friday.

“Hendo, it could have been worse. How we all know, it was a hamstring,” said the manager.

“We heard of different hamstring injuries now around in the Premier League – Harry Kane, for example. It’s not that bad.

“But he will be out, I think, for three weeks or so, which is not cool. But how we see it, we were still lucky. That’s it.”

Klopp has no other fresh injury concerns ahead of Monday’s Premier League clash with West Ham United, however.

And the six-day gap between games means any alterations, aside from a replacement for Henderson, will be by choice.

“Changes, I could, because apart from Hendo all the other boys are fit,” added the boss.

“But Tuesday-Monday [between games], there is absolutely no need to do it. That’s enough time, longer than we usually have. We will see who will start, maybe we will make more changes – but not because of the Atletico game.”

sked about the skipper’s absence representing an opportunity for other midfielders, Klopp said: “Hopefully nothing else happens, to be honest.

“Hendo is exceptionally important, not only football-wise but for some other reasons as well which hopefully everybody knows. But we still have options there and that’s good.

“Yes, it’s a chance of course, a chance for all of them. But there would have been a chance anyway, Hendo wouldn’t have played all the games from now until the end of the season.

“It’s a position where we can react so we will react

Jürgen Klopp offered an update on the fitness of James Milner and Joel Matip after the duo were forced from the field with knocks during Sunday’s goalless draw at Everton.
Milner was withdrawn shortly before half-time having pulled up, while Matip limped off in the second period following a challenge with Richarlison.
Klopp confirmed both players will require further assessment by the Reds’ medical team, but was hopeful neither issue is serious.
He told his post-match press conference: “Millie felt a hamstring a little bit, but we had this in the past. Millie is not often injured and hopefully it is not serious. He is smart enough to show up in the moment when he feels it, so hopefully it was the right moment.
“Maybe not Wednesday [he will be available for], but after that I would hope for.
“Joel was unlucky and we had to make a quick decision. It was a situation with Richarlison and he bent or stretched or his big toe.

Jürgen Klopp confirms Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain injury
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to miss the remainder of Liverpool’s pre-season programme after sustaining a knock to his knee during training.

The midfielder picked up the injury during a challenge in Austria and has returned to Melwood to begin his rehabilitation with the club’s medical team.
Jürgen Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: “Really unfortunate. An unfortunate situation as well; it was a challenge [in training].

“It looks like it is very similar to what Hendo had, which keeps him out for we don’t know for sure exactly how long, but for sure this pre-season he will not make a game, Arsenal for sure not and then we will see. The next game is probably two weeks later, but I don’t know.

“We have to wait but it is far away from being perfect, of course. It is really hard for him and hard for us, but it is not to change.”

    Virgil van Dijk injury update

Jürgen Klopp allayed any concerns regarding Virgil van Dijk's fitness after the Liverpool No.4 suffered a head injury during Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Salzburg.

The centre-back was forced off in the 55th minute at Red Bull Arena, where Rhian Brewster struck twice in the second half for the Reds.

But Klopp confirmed post-match that Van Dijk is not expected to suffer any lasting effects.

“Virg only looks like he has a piercing now and has a plaster on it. It should not be, and is, no problem,” the manager told Liverpoolfc.com. “In the moment it is of course not cool but there will not be a problem.”

LFC injury latest: Updates on Van Dijk, Trent, Henderson and more
Virgil van Dijk is fit for Saturday’s FA Community Shield meeting with Arsenal, while Trent Alexander-Arnold could also feature at Wembley.
The No.4 sustained a head injury during Liverpool’s 2-2 friendly draw with Salzburg earlier in the week, but Jürgen Klopp confirmed on Friday that he is available for selection against the Gunners.
“Virgil looks fine, he looks not good because he has the cut there, but apart from that it should be fine,” the boss said, during his pre-match press conference.
Alexander-Arnold, meanwhile, is ‘very close’ to being in contention to play after missing the Reds’ pre-season training camp in Austria.
Klopp continued: “All the boys which were not involved so far or got slight knocks in pre-season will not be available for tomorrow, but [are] getting closer, really closer, closer and closer so hopefully the majority of them can start training completely normal after the Arsenal game, but this game is now a bit too early for them. Maybe one or two [will be] involved in the squad, we have to see.
“That’s it pretty much. Hendo and Joel [Matip] looking really good, on a good way. Ox, early stages but good. Shaq, good. Trent, very close, we have to make a decision about tomorrow. Harry [Wilson] looks good.”
