Im doing things abit different this Sat and just wondered if i could get some advice please. I usually buy my tickets online and get the train up. Im bringing my 2 young lads with me this week and they tend to get bored waiting about for ko so ive decided to drive and come into the stadium close to ko. Where is best to park nowadays that isnt too far of a walk to the stadium? I was also wondering whats it like buying a ticket on the day nowadays. Are the queues usually long and what time should i aim to get up for in order to park, buy our tickets and get in the ground for about 230ish.
Thanks mate. I used to park near a nursing home on one of the turn offs heading to the Sol. I know you need to get there early though if you want a parking spot
That may have been the nursing home behind B & M at Southwick (used to be Fine Fare and Safeway back in the day (b and m, not the nursing home!) ), you can still park there I think if you get there early, failing that try Thompson Park car park at the top of Carly Rd next to The Mill Italian restraunt (used to be the dray and horses) . Depending on the ages of the lads, they might like the Fans Museum on North Bridge St (used to be the railway museum) where they can try on a few strips and table footy etc.
I know that me and my mate got in the ground at 2.35 the other week and the stewards were ran off their feet
If you want me to get you and the bairns tickets and then meet you outside the ground before the game that wouldn't be a problem mate..
We used to park at Castletown and get the free bus over to right outside the stadium. They run continuously and the same going back.
Depends which way you're arriving into town. If it's up the A19, which I would guess it is (also my route), this free car park is where I always park https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@54.9...=99.05959&pitch=0&thumbfov=100!7i13312!8i6656 I'd aim to be there for 1:30 as it does fill up. When my bairn was little he used to love the routine of parking, grabbing a burger, then wandering down to the ground.
Tesco car park (no cost or time limit) roker avenue is great my brother picks me up there, always space or B&M, poundland etc just along the road all 10 minutes walk to the SOL. Getting away is a bit tricky though along Newcastle road. OK sorry about that my left foot, i have never seen them signs, there is a car wash there as well !
stadium of light metro station car park. get parked up about 1pm and get your match tickets then, before the rush. have a wander down the fans museum for an hour, then grab some food and into the SOL for the game.
Is the Foundation of light still open on match days? I go straight into the South Stand so don't know.
This is why i love you mate. Your a top bloke! Cant wait for a catchup with you again! Thanks for your help lads. Unfortunately its looking doubtful i can go now. My car has just fecked up today and its not gonna be cheap. Why do things like this happen straight after Xmas? It was my Boiler last year.
