As most haven't attended a 1st team game in the last decade it's possible you were being a tad optimistic.
Look forward to it. Pretty sure if you and your compatriates lived a 3 to 4 hours drive up the M1 you'd be here every week. To be honest and I've said this many times the vast majority of us are glory supporters either from or on the back of the Revie years. Think there is only Duke and Leeds60 who were attending matched prior to that. In fact, I'm seeing my Dad later (Leeds fan) and so I'll ask him when he first started going to games. Seem to remember he was in the RAF in the 50's and stationed away from Leeds. It's more than likely he started going once we became successful and then he started taking me from 1971...so we would both be glory supporters. How about your end...any family/fans who can trace the origins of their support from prior to Revie.
Afraid not. My day and myself started supporting Leeds about 68 when I was 7. He was a psychiatric nurse and at the start only one in a staff of about 300 supporting the whites. He still does at 86 and not shy about criticising what he still sees as our short failings. Only access we had to football at the time was motd which really mainly only featured the four or five main clubs at the time so everyone in Ireland stuck to one of those four or five and have carried it forward for generations. Hence the massive Leeds, scum and Liverpool fan bases here
Well the fact they had 300 psychiatric nurses where you're from back in the 60's sort of explains a lot !!!! Hopefully your Dad gets to see us on TV a fair bit these days so I hope he's enjoying our renaissance.
Just spoken with my Dad and he first went around 1950/51 as a 15 year old...he remembers John Charles was playing and then he went regularly until moving away from Leeds around 1960. Seems it's just me that's a glory supporter in the family then.
Morning all who are attending this the event of the year (so far). Must say I am looking forward to the full day out. If I start drinking at ten Sat morning I will be sloshed by kick off. But then again would be rude not to.
If I make the connection I get into Leeds at about 10:15, so will walk up to the hotel, otherwise about 30 to 40 mins later. So will be at IBIS to dump bag around 11. Are we going to meet there, or wander down to the Spoons at the station - or a pub near the IBIS before going to the Peacock?
As spoons at station is close to ibis can I suggest that as meeting point after we dump our bags. We could taxi to peacock for 1 as that’s Davys estimated time of arrival
Up on the coach for this one, which usually drops off outside the Peacock around 12.30, see you there.
Lee I will be going to ibis to meet Davy. If on time he will be there at one. Taxi from there would seem the thing to do. Big hold ups for taxis at station at boro game due to roadworks. I ended up walking to the ground.
