Rumour I have heard. ESL have paid Duchelet just £1 for Charlton. This gets them ownership of the club (including any debt) but RD keeps the ground and training ground and will charge only a peppercorn rent (£1 per year) on both. Southall is the main man, but needed the Arab to be able to meet the EFL owners quota. Apparently there are still ex-directors in the shadows that are still owed money. This rumour is from a life-long Charlton fan that is your longest standing sponsor and box owner!!
It might be based on something else Mundell has posted (or a similar post on CL) where it was pointed out that RD was willing to give the Club away as he believes it to be worthless. Never a good sign, when your own Club's owner has the same idea of the value of CAFC as most Millwall and Palace fans presumably have - and indeed cares about it as little as they do too. We will be well rid of the old scrote.
Since the point of land sale has been raised there should be a statement from the new owners clarifying the situation very soon.
Seriously, what difference would it make. Bloke has.spent an absolute fortune keeping Charlton trading - isn't he entitled to get some of it back?
That's kind of my point mate. It wasn't that long ago that bad management meant that you HAD to share with West Ham (and Palace ). At least Roland's money stopped that from happening again.
