Best bit about the first half was the minute delay at the start Best bit of the second half was easily the goals from the youngsters. Saints 100% winning record this decade.
Good day for Saints that. Rested majority of first team, comfortable win, clean sheet and 2 youngsters with goals. All that was missing was a goal from Che to hopefully get him going!
Yep, cant complain at all, lacklustre game but understandable. JWP is a man possessed, another fantastic performance
Not one for the purists. Would like to see the disallowed Long goal again as was convinced it was onside. Huddersfield wasted a glorious opportunity just afterwards but shot straight at Gunn. Second half we lost control of the midfield and looked rather ordinary reminiscent of earlier in the season.
Thing is Adams scored 22 goals at this level last season, so its not like you can say he isn't good enough to score against a championship team. It just shows there are other things we need to fix to get him firing.
I'll just put a word in for Che as he got an assist today for the Vokins goal. I think he is trying too hard and not playing instinctively, he certainly puts the effort in. On the match i'll say that it takes 2 teams to make it and 'Udders weren't interested in playing even after we scored. The fact that their Manager swapped a Striker for a Striker tells you that the weren't serious about prolonging their cup campaign.
This game really does show how thin our squad is, lots to shift next summer again including those coming back from their loan spells
Soooo selfish. It’s nearly Scotland, but it is still England, although there is a lot of Scottish coinage floating around. If it was Scotland, Carlisle would be in their Premier League.
I was going to mention Che's assist for the second - lovely move. That aside, I thought he looked frustrated today. He worked hard but we just didn't spot his runs and give him the ball quickly enough. I think someone needs to look back at his Birmingham videos to see how they played him to get the best out of him because for sure we are not doing that. The only good things about this game were the two well taken goals. Sadly there was too much of the early season Saints there. Vesty and Maya pissed about far too much at the back rather than playing the ball forward quickly. Romeu's spacial awareness is abysmal and again he ended up playing it back more often than not. When we did get it forward (usually thru JWP), Udders had too many defenders back so it was hard to break them down. Danso (who we already know isn't a left back) isn't a right back. His crossing (when he actually managed it) was pretty poor.
Not so sure about that. Danso's knee was the cause of his substitution and Boufal looked in some discomfort when he came off. More worrying was the clattering Cedric got just before the final whistle when all 3 subs had been used.
