Up my own arse
Highlight any spurious claims you make by stating they are "Fact"

Tell the person you are arguing with that he/she is "angry" all the while you will be pretending to be as cool as a cucumber.

If you in imminent danger of losing a debate, retreat to the sanctuary of your own team board and call for "handers" by starting another article on the same subject. Unless you are a complete arse your fellow fans will feel compelled to speak out in your defence.

If you post something which you later realise is nonsense, simply edit it and leave a full stop in it's place, then you can deny posting what you did in the first place. (note: This can be fraught with danger if your opponent has already "quoted" you. If that is the case, resort to tactic No3 or simply do not respond)

Use the "quote mining" technique in all situations. Simply extract text from your adversary's posts and re-post it out of context, then try and suggest that was what he/she actually meant all along. If he/she denies this and shows the full quote in context, carry on regardless and continue to "quote mine" remorslessly until your opponent gets brassed off and leaves you alone.

Make use of "Godwin's Law" liberally, do not be afraid to compare rganisations/individuals with Nazis/Adolf Hitler.

Accuse people of posting things they did not. By the time they have realised you are lying (if they can be arsed), hopefully several pages of posts will have passed by and only he/she will be interested in debunking your lie, by this stage other posters will not bother checking back and it will be your word against his/hers.

If all else fails disappear from the forum and do not post for a suitable period of time (3-7 days should be adequate, dependent upon how badly you were shown up) then return and start posting again as if nothing had happened. This tactic is especially handy if you are planning on going on holiday for a few days, as it's the best time to lie through your teeth and return without a blemish against your name.

Last resort, if your argument is in tatters and you are being mercilessly mocked and taunted by all and sundry and you don't want to go away for a few days, simply pretend that you were at the "Wind up" all along.

Happy posting.
