Sentimental because he played 30 + matches for his country, a 15 year career to date (high level) , some good games, some bad games, good years, not so good years. Hard working team player every time he was on the pitch. Yep, some mistakes, often played out of position/out of his comfort zone.
Technical incompetence ? More specifics please ? Errors that lost us games perhaps ?

I don’t recall anyone saying Norman was better than Southall. Ever.

For a fave XI, maybe. Best XI? Not a chance. He played no games in 09/10 and then played 20 games in 2010/11 before leaving for PNE. It was great to see him back after his injury, loved him scoring on his return vs Swansea, but he has no place in a Best XI for the decade.

PS- alright. Never say it has passed because you never know.
