I had no idea that "blase" was in your range of Saints emotions :emoticon-0100-smile

Can anyone remember that we got to the Semifinals just 2 years ago? At that time we were hanging on to the Premier League by our fingernails, and I’m not sure many of us actually cared very much about the Cup, especially as we were never going to beat Chelsea anyway. In retrospect it would have been fantastic to win the thing, but at the time it didn’t seem anywhere near as important as staying up.

Some of us wanted the cup win as opposed to staying up if given a choice.

I appreciate that, but I certainly wasn’t one of them. Each to his own!

Surely start Romeu and Adams, possibly Long if fit, with Ward-Prowse and Ings rested.

Staying up is always the most important...very, very hard to get promoted again and too easy to slide down the leagues.

Don't usually go to cup matches due to how they are regarded by the clubs these days, and we hadn't planned to go to this one until this morning. After all the excitement of Wednesday we just wanted to see some more football, so Mrs Game and I are off to the match.
As I said, we don't normally bother so blame us if it all goes pear shaped. UTS :emoticon-0131-angel

I would 100% rather win the cup - but would still rest players today. We need to be realistic - if we get to quarters/semi and come up against decent opposition, then I'd start playing the strongest team.

Kind of agree with this, I think that despite all the 'playing down' of the FA Cup's importance, as a club I want to see a winning attitude to all matches, whoever is playing. With the recent miserable few seasons just gone, if this 'we are going to win this' approach gets into the minds of all the chosen players then it gives greater incentives for performances likely to get them into, or on the fringe, of the first team and remind those currently there cannot rest on their laurels. I understand the list of priorities we have but as supporters we have a right to expect a winning attitude from those on the pitch, whatever the competition.

I seem to remember we were a lot more split on that than I thought we would be?

Plus, I'll never forget 'Marky Marky Hughes' at Wigan.

Every game should be approached with 100% win attitude throughout the squad and supporters.

Away at Wigan was the coldest I’ve ever been, only Cedric scoring warmed me up. Gabbi missed a pen and an open goal I think

So what would your message be to any supporters that are feeling, I don’t know, say, a bit blasé about today’s game? :emoticon-0126-nerd:

Looks like Vokins & Slattery are involved in some capacity. As is Ings.

Please don't do blasé. Quick google:-
    adjective
unimpressed with or indifferent to something because one has experienced or seen it so often before.
"she was becoming quite blasé about the dangers". Or lose the game and R H suffers the wrath of the fans for the blasé approach.

Bloody hell I had forgotten about Gabbi's pen, and yeah it was ****ing freezing.

No snow up there as I remember though which was weird when down here was covered.
