Being very partial to Irish music I thought I would post this one. This song was written by The Chieftains, and features Elvis Costello. It's about Irish migrants leaving for America, but it has since been adopted as an anthem for the misplaced and homeless folk everywhere. Turn the volume up and enjoy .....
34 years today the world lost the Black Rose of Ireland. RIP Philip Parris Lynott A great legacy of music, a wild man of rival, but a decent bloke by all counts (when he wasn’t drunk or high) and a loving son to his mother, Philomena, who I had the luck (and pleasure) of meeting when paying my respects at his grave a few years ago. A sad loss
I’m on a roll today ...... Another sad loss, 9 years ago, Gerry Rafferty who was SO much more than just “Baker Street” (though I love that track). This is one of my absolute favourites of his. An amazing song and a massive legacy to music. Another guy who, apparently, was a decent bloke and a bit of a musical genius, but an arsehole when drunk and difficult to work with. Very sad ....
Has to be this after a couple of our young guns sharpshooted us to victory today, "they are only 19".. Well done to Will and Jake.
Good album, that one. So was Easter, which was constantly on my turntable for about a year after it came out
Ziggy Marley and The Melody Makers have created some great records and here are a couple of them. You just gotta love that reggae beat .....
What a great piece of music. Another one I've never heard before, so thanks very much for posting it.
I find it hard to believe this band started out 31 years ago, and they are still making great music .....
Ah the Levellers, saw Mark Chadwick outside the music academy near the Bargate a couple of years ago... This one is for my dear old dad who is showing early signs of dementia, he has an excellent tenor voice and one of the songs he likes to sing is Sinatra's My Way... I get my love of music, strong principles and sense of justice from him...love you dad.
