Tbf, we have proved that. Selling Danny wouldn’t just be bad business though - it would be catastrophically stupid.
Other than tedious subjectivity over our Danny; anyone got any transfer rumours to share - no matter how tenuous? Happy New Year BTW!
One of the massive gang of so called ex agents on Twitter has said that Lallana has agreed a deal to rejoin Southampton on the 1st July, and that the deal will be announced within the next week.
In a world of crazy fees, that is a great price if true and we should be all over it , Hopefully we are. Follow that up with a CB and Bowen if we can sell a couple and I would be ecstatic.
Another case of 2 + 2 = 5. Ex-players often get linked back to their old clubs...but it rarely happens.
Well not any player as can't even give some of the deadwood away! The only players that they are on about really is the successful ones, VVD, Lallana, Mane, Shaw, Schneiderlin etc, but what club doesn't end up selling their most prized players, it happens to everyone, even Liverpool. The only reason they mention Saints a lot is because we used to be very good at it, either bringing a player through the academy or unearthing a worldie! Danny is the first true gem for a good few seasons. Every player has their price and Ings is no exception, but I seriously doubt anyone will offer our price for him, and even if they did, who is to say that Saints fan, having the best season of his life, super happy and loving life Danny Ings would want to leave to be someone like Kane's understudy!
Danny Ings has come to Saints because it's where he wants to be. At 27 he has a few years in which to play at a club who treasure him and really enjoy his football for the first time in many years. Danny is a dead genuine guy and a hugely popular player with his team mates, a great encourager and will in a very short space of time he will be a Saints legend, if he isn't already. Just look at him on the pitch, he is absolutely loving every minute of playing here. You don't go to Fratton Park, plonk two goals in their net and then move on for a few extra quid to be just another striker somewhere, when you are already a hero at Saints. When the pundits were suggesting that Matt Le Tissier should make the 'big move' to Man Utd, Matt said he would rather stay at Southampton and be really valued than be just another face at a big club. Danny Ings undoubtedly feels the same. These idiot pundits can't see beyond the top six teams and all they talk about is the monetary value of players and how much they can earn at the big clubs. They haven't the brain cells to understand what Legendary status means to players like Matt Le Tissier, Rickie Lambert and Danny Ings or all those that went before them. It's not about the money, it's about the feeling of belonging and being at home in a club where you are truly appreciated and a part of something special.
Nice sentiments, but doesn't apply to most players in the modern game. We'll see. I suppose there are always exceptions. Don't think he will go this window. That would simply be ridiculous. Agree about the pundits though. It's like they are on a loop. and don't compute faced with anything outside the status quo. All about headlines!
It would be suicide to sell Danny Ings...........I certainly don't believe Saints would be so stupid. We'd be better off building a team around him...........
Yes but he’s already had one big move that didn’t work out. He may be wary of repeating that, at his age he doesn’t have years to waste on the bench.
Or years to earn (relative) fortunes. If a big team comes in offering him 100k+ a week he probably would be very tempted
Exactly! Like most of us, footballers generally simply follow the money and although I don't expect him to leave this month, the summer will be a different issue especially of the big boys come in with £80m+ which is the figure we should be looking at as a minimum for a 25 goal striker
Well yeah but I would say there’s is basically no chance a top team would be offering much for Ings. Everton are the only ones and they probably are aiming higher as well
