Same, I can’t bear another 5+ months of Aurier. I’d be happy to let KWP them join on a perm. Genuinely feel sorry for him as I think we as a club have ruined his development and I can’t see him ever making it here now. He’s 23 soon and still playing like an 18 year old due to the lack of game time he’s had. Should’ve loaned him out the summer we sold Walker/ signed Aurier.
I think HBIC nails it with regards to he can’t possibly be any worse. Plus, signing young English players has usually been our bread and butter, it’s just nowadays we have to pay £30m and not £5m-£10m.
The thing that stands out for me is we've being linked with half of Norwich's back four recently, namely Max Aarons and Ben Godfrey While we can say that we've been linked with Aarons since this time last year, this does have a whiff of the stripmining that Villa and Southampton experienced form the Manc clubs, Arsenal and Liverpool in the last fifteen years (yet somehow Southampton fans only blame us...) and I'd rather we didn't follow that path
Well Aurier was also highly regarded when we bought him. It's quite easy for other purchases to be just as bad
I agree. KWP has really gotten an unfair deal. Compared to Kyle Walker who had an entire period of playing as 1 of five at the back to help eliminate defensive errors, KWP has gotten the comparative short straw. Not that I think we will, but I'd be happy to give Sessegnon and KWP a run at being forward flying wingbacks if we have Koulibaly, Sanchez and Alderwiereld as a three in defence.
Of course but persisting with dross is worse than trying to sign someone new where there’s a 50% chance they could be a success.
Aurier isn't dross, he is just an average PL player. I don't think the chance of Aarons being better is higher than a third.
In theory it’d be nice to see him given a crack but I just think he’s so far below the level we need at the moment due to his lack of development that in the situation we’re in it’d be too big a risk. Could be wrong though. Always thought he had a huge potential, could do a Mason and become a late bloomer.
If he was average I’d be content with him. He’s painfully so far below average and is part of the reason why this club finds itself being outplayed by sides like Brighton, Sheffied and co. I would take a 1% probability that Aarons could be better rather than a 100% guarantee Aurier will continue to let us down.
Aurier is single handedly destroying our defensive shape, as he either leaves a gaping hole at left back when playing as a winger or a gaping hole in central midfield because Sissoko is having to cover the gaping hole where the right back should be True, part of the blame for the former can just as easily be levelled at Lucas, but when two glaring issues with our defence can be directly linked to him that is not a player who can be trusted
Exodus Watch Ekstrabladet report that Eriksen to Inter is more or less done ...and I'll embellish that by saying that, if it isn't, he'll gladly moan to them in an interview about it by the end of February
Currently topping Serie A on goal difference ...although the real challenge is not getting kicked in the nards by the FFP police
Whilst I’ll be gutted to lose him, I’ll wish him well there. I’d rather it be to them than to Madrid again like Bale and Modric, ****ing hate Madrid. Inter are joint top of Serie A at the moment too, Conte’s doing the business. Someone like Eriksen (if his head’s switched on) will light that league up and provide Inter a huge boost.
I don’t think he ever actually said which club did he? I thought he just mentioned the want for a new challenge and then the likes of Real and co were thrown in by the media. Could be completely wrong though.
Is Inter a step up from Spurs? I could understand if he gets the chance to play for the elite clubs but last time Inter were any good they had Jose Mourinho as manager
