Why does anyone have to be just 18?

They don't necessarily but the list is young players who might make an impact in the next decade so his age is relevant.

Are you butthurt that Arsenal's legendary academy that has produced....I can't think of anyone....in the last 15 years didn't get a mention?

The list is not just who'll make in impact, its who might replace Messi and Ronaldo as the best players on the planet.

Even if the list was 100 players long, to include Alli or Greenwood would probably draw sniggers from anyone who follows football.

I just wish our academy had produced all the epic youngsters that every other team has<wah>. Sad times when I think of all the worldies around the globe who currently ply their trade at the club that developed them.

Do you think any of the other players on that list, except for Mbappe, could go on to hit the levels of Ronaldo and Messi?

To be fair it's ironic coming from an Arsenal fan. You lot used to get moist about your great youngsters after a 2-1 Carling Cup win against someone like Rotherham. Although that was back when Wenger had invented football. :emoticon-0105-wink:

    You’re talking crap.

Greenwood looks an excellent prospect. And Dele is close to being back to his best since Maureen came.

And who are all these ‘worldies’

Ronaldo and Messi are two of the all time greats, and at my age I’ve seen most of em. As Stan says, the only player on that list who has a hope of reaching that status is Mbappe.

    Greenwood :emoticon-0102-bigsm
    Dele :emoticon-0102-bigsm

And worldies as in ANY world class player. Name one who plays at a club that developed them in the academy from youth.

But yes, Mbappe is the only one, we agree there.

They’re both top class players. If you can’t see that through your red and white specs the take em off for a while. They would both attract a lot of buyers if they were to be sold.

No, those are just two of the examples he pointed out.
You sound like you are agreeing with him, that those players have no chance of being as good as Messi, so I am not entirely sure whats up with the belligerence?

Just another Gooner with a bee in his bonnet about clubs bringing academy kids into their first team. Arsenal used to think that they had some kind of production line but the only one who came through was Fabregas who they nicked from Barca.

I’ve made that clear. His first remark was that the list was wumming spurs and Utd. That can only mean one thing as they’re the only two mentioned.

Right. Here's some more simple instructions for you. Pick the best five players in every position. And of those 55 players count how many still play for the club that developed them in their academy.

Presumably given how pivotal it is for clubs to develop their own talent this will be a high proportion? I'll await your answer, expecting approx 50% maybe?

To be honest, in the PL era, the clubs that come to mind to me when it comes to bring through youth, and/or making astute youth player purchases have always been Liverpool, Spurs, Man Utd and Southampton.

It was one of the things that always frustrated the hell out of me about Chelsea, that we had no one come through for 20 years pretty much after JT.
Now we are getting loads, I hope they continue being good, and get better.

I think he was surprised they were even on the list.
I was surprised by half that list to be honest.
When it comes to future potential I think of Mbappe and Sancho mainly.
Maybe a couple years ago I would have had Rashford on that list.
But certainly none of the others <laugh>

I think his point is that Greenwood is **** because another club hasn't snapped him up?
Maybe.....to be honest I am slowly finding it more difficult to follow what he is saying now as well <laugh>
