So you think we should simply stick to supporting the club and avoid posting views on the current/future owners, criticising the team, etc.
I really think we would have seen the acid test of Donald over the next few years this January if we hadn't seen protests. That's just my opinion but if he'd have spent the money wisely and visibly come out fighting, things would be clearer about how he intends to run us. If he'd not done that, and we were running on a shoestring despite the loan from FPP, then we'd have a much stronger case for protest imo. The timing of the whole thing has been poor really.
Good post kitty marra, i think an extra win thrown in during the last 14 games may have delayed the protest long enough to get to January and see who is brought in. unfortunately results were bad enough to warrant fan unrest. Perhaps January could still change the way fans think of Donald, it all depends on who is brought in.
I find it strange that Donald is accused of being a serial liar .... ... but people believe him, without question, when he says an open letter from some fanzines caused him to completely change his plans and sell the club. I think it's just a convenient excuse that shifts the blame onto the entire support.
Good point. Certain parts of the media seem to have latched onto this idea that we are easily disgruntled. Perhaps this doesn’t help that, but ultimately no one knows why Donald does what he does.
You can do what you like im just saying it won’t make any difference. This is a forum to air views and have discussions but anyone believing it will alter anything are kidding themselves. I’ve heard it all before from these brave souls shouting about protests etc and they never end up doing anything. The clubs up for sale, let’s see if anyone wants it.
There haven't been any organised protests as far as I'm aware. The fanzines aren't elected or the automatic spokesman for 40,000 people. They're a handful of well meaning lads as Donald knows only too well, I fully believe he wanted out well before the fanzines said anything.
Has anyone ever said they believe it will alter anything? And who on here has been shouting about protests?
"anyone believing it will alter anything are kidding themselves." So who are you talking about when you say this?
Yeah I don't believe that either, there's a lot of money at stake for him a letter from a supporters group isn't going to change a thing. My take on it is that he made the claim because he wanted out anyway and this was a way of doing it with some honour. I think his heart was in the right place, his ego has taken a blow and he'd prefer to exit with some dignity.
He's pulled a 'Steve Bruce' imo mate ... ... "I was doing a great job but the supporters hounded me out." The media will be repeating that for evermore.
Could well be mate, I've never really felt like I've got a handle on the guy so his motivations are a bit of a mystery to me. Whatever the weather the timing was convenient as I've believed for a while that he wants out. Why wouldn't he, it's all gone tits up and he doesn't have the funds to turn it around. Making it look like it was the supporters decision/falling on his sword like a noble samurai is a neat ending to it.
Sorry but that's nonsense. If you have a machine that's worth £1m but costs £1m per year to run is, according to you, worthless? Even though it generates income of £2m? It's worth £1m mate. And the properties are football properties for use by a football club so they are worth much more than what you'd get from demolishing and building houses. Without the stadium, no gate receipts. Without the academy, we spend more on transferring players in and receive less when we sell the players we develop. Put it another way, how much would it cost FPP to get newly created Kittenmittens FC to the position Sunderland is in now with its squad, stadium and academy? A hell of a lot more than the £15m bandied about on here.
I still can't believe that Bruce got away with that - shows how low the standards of journalism have fallen. As for SD selling up, I'm not so sure that he has done anything other than take the fan's heat off himself for a while. If results continue the current upward trend then we may just find that he has 'rediscovered his enthusiasm for SAFC'
