This is an incredibly challenging task you've posed (for me at least) Quill for the following reasons:

    - I don't believe I have listened to a radio station for close to 20 years !

    - I have spent literally thousands of hours on the internet using tools like Napster, Grokster, Limewire, and finally YouTube etc etc to "capture" stuff I remember hearing (sometimes vaguely) from the late '50s to the early '80's, stuff I have collected on vinyl or cassette, Cd or DVD over the years (extensive), and searching using those online tools to record on my own systems. I probably have 45-50k tracks stored on various digital media.

    - It's tough to keep up with new releases (particularly if it's coming out of the British /European side of the Atlantic)

    - All I really know about the recent music scene has been gleaned over the last few years from this site, specifically the "FNMT", the new (to me) stuff having been posted by the likes of yourself and a fair number of others.

    - I make a point to listening to every music track posted on here that I have never heard before. There is obviously a massive amount of talent producing & recording excellent stuff out there. Much I like, a small percent is not for me, but guys like yourself are replacing the DJs I used to hear on the radio for new sources.

Keep on posting stuff that'll be new to me - it's appreciated. I can tell that yourself & others have a real appreciation for stuff that came before your time & since. Hope I personally don't post too much "rubbish" that our younger forum members find boring/old hat. Old influences new & helps regenerate & spawn new through absorption & innovation

It's a warm feeling that the music appreciation continuum persists.

I can't pinpoint any stuff from 2000-2019 that I knew of until someone posted on here, so for my one contribution I'll post a piece that may have been composed sometime in the 1680's, published first in the 1900-1919 time-frame, and broadcast/played I'd think hundreds/thousands of millions of times in the decade you're capturing in your op.

Happy New Year Quill. Music can bring great solace - keep on using it.:emoticon-0148-yes:<cheers>

Ignore the bullshit sub-title ( I have more than 50 "original best versions" performed by many performers on many different instruments) !

100 years ago we had the Roaring Twenties. will this decade be the Boring Twenties?

No doubt Chazz will be along soon with his usual snide comments.
