Bielsa said Eddie did a good job tiring their defenders out in the second half, it wasn’t Nketiah choice to leave, Arsenal wanted him back.... (So much for all this no recall nonsense and Arsenal saying he could stay). Bilic said Phillips did a good job marking Pereira, he thinks Bielsa is a great coach and loves going up against him. He feels a drawer was fair but their chances were better. Bielsa felt we were the better team, he thought we should have won but we could have lost. Bielsa said we need to evaluate a replacement for Bamford, they need to be a physical player who can fit straight in. He also said Roberts can play as a striker as well as a 10 if need be.
On Eddie rather now than 31st Jan Shame really but there you go Wonder if arsenal are looking to make a fast buck
Ristac, change the last two words from ‘need be’ to ‘ever fit’ and I’d say that assessment is spot on.
yep, rock solid today... not the best distributor for bielsaball but I’d still have him in a Heartbeat
Given Bielsa improves every player by a minimum 10%, he’d make some Player of him. Also has the height we miss at times
The other day I mentioned how we scored more from corners with Bartley, Wood and Pontus. Their goal Bartley knew he couldn’t score so he headed it back into the danger area. Late on in the second half, Cooper had an exact identical ball and he went for goal which was like a pass back to the keeper. I too thought he was solid in defence, a threat at set pieces, I’d love him back
Reading through the comments and including observations from the Brum game I'm going to go to the extreme for a bit of fun Weidwald in goal Dallas RB Douglas LB Ayala and Bartley CB Perriera Gotts Costa Pablo Alioski Peter Crouch Plenty of height in that team! This gets rid of the unloved players; Kiko, Ayling, Philips and Harrison. Gets us a giant up front and at the back. Who needs Bielsaball, just bring in Warnock! Sorry Happy New Year everyone
He’s very polite about people in general but very rude to his assistant... very strange character bielsa but, hey he’s our nutter and we love him.
I love all the Leeds players, the starting 11 and the bench, as long as they give 100% it’s not their fault if they sometimes come up lacking in skill. I’ll complain when Kiko makes an error but I’ll cheer when he makes a save. I don’t get some of the hatred towards Phillips, Harrison and Bamford, it’s like a minuscule minority want them to miss to prove a point. I thought we looked damn good second half, far more balance with Douglas at LB but it doesn’t mean I hate Alioski, I just prefer him or Harrison further forward. Bamford held the ball up, it brought the midfielders into the game, we’ve all been screaming for Nketiah to be given a chance and we’ve witnessed why Bielsa picks Bamford. Guess we just need to trust Bielsas team selection more often. It was a bold move at half time and one that paid off.
Miniscule minority? Is LL a short-arse too? ...might want to dust off his old army goalie shirt... bielsa might pick him
You may wish to reconsider the " we've all been screaming for Nketiah " statement... Some of us have been persistent and extremely audible in our protestations otherwise.
See that the ' Kill Kiko ' squad were out in force earlier. The ball looped up off Costa making it difficult to deal with, plus 3 potential 50/50 challenges ensued afterwards yet not one Leeds player touched the ball, or for that matter made contact with a WBA player either. Could we hope for better from Kiko ? Yes...but give the guy a break FFS.
I think some people have a short memory about Bartlett. He's slow, so games like today suit him down to the ground & he looks good. When we played a high line, he was all at sea. Knock the ball over the top of him & the attacker was running free. Also, if you remember, it was always Pontus that attacked the ball, on the ground or in the air, & Bartlett provided the cover if Pontus failed. Basically, good in either penalty box, but too slow anywhere else. No idea how he'd cope with Bielsaball. Can't remember specifically what his distribution was like, although I have the feeling it was 'safety first'.
Top of the league, A great away draw, Bamford vs eddie debate put to bed. Kiko is a good keeper, has his faults as all keepers do. Onwards and upwards lads. Try to keep your glasses half full, mine is MOT
