This is the low point of their season so far. Probably their lowest point in the PL. Coupled with the fact that they are now dropping into the bottom three, this could finally be when Eddie's position comes into question.
As much as I'd like them to stay up, it'd be hilarious if we put the final nail in at their place on the penultimate day, especially after them bottling their big opportunity in 2018.
How Mark Noble didn’t get booked and how that was given as a pen is beyond me.... these decisions show VAR and the rules around it are not yet fit fit for purpose...
Yep they're like the Knopfler brothers and it's quite possible that they may not get out of the bottom 3 now that they have entered it. I still rate Eddie though, he has worked a miracle there for years.
I said a couple weeks ago that two teams who won't deal with seeing the line up close are Bompey & Toon. And today, that line looks very close.
I don't think it was a penalty either. But I don't put it in the howler category, hence I'm fine with VAR not overturning the referee's decision. I'm looking in the direction of the referee, not VAR.
Referee was conned by Noble and the crowd.... poor show all round. I’m not generally bothered by the offside by a nipple as that’s the law of offside.... but for Noble to clearly dive and deceive two officials seems fundamentally wrong..
My argument against technology in football before it was introduced was that it would be great for yes/no decisions (goal line for instance), but would be less helpful where it was still a matter of opinion. Not totally against VAR anymore....just needs refining and speeding up. As for offside...not the fault of VAR...need to decide on a yes/no definition of offside. Doesn't matter what the definition is since an inch here or there doesn't matter, but need to make it simple and clear.
Feels like this is a must-win for Norwich. Even up 1-0 up, they're still sitting 5 points adrift with a much weaker GD. They can hardly afford for that to become 7 or 8 points. Especially with so many sides above them being a reasonable form.
