Good Morning. It's the start of a new decade as we continue to to keep faith with the mighty Leeds United.

Billy Sharpe coming back to Elland Road?

Multiple sources are claiming that Leeds have been in touch with their (bitter) South Yorkshire Neighbours at Bramall Lane about the availability of veteran striker Billy Sharp.

The 33yo has scored just the once for the Blades in 10 appearances since their promotion to the Premiership.

You'll recall that Sharp had an unsuccessful stint at Elland Road during the 2014/15 season scoring 5 times in 33 appearances. Unfortunately for the former Southampton hitman, he was feeding off scraps making it very difficult to show his potential.

The following Summer, Leeds agreed to assist Sharp with a cut price move to his boyhood club for just 500k, as the Blades could not afford any more.

Since then, he has scored 88 goals in 174, better than a one in two ratio, including 24 goals last season in the Championship, ultimately making the difference between promotion and play offs.

Unfortunately for the Whites, Blades Manager Chris Wilder has blocked any chance of Sharp having a second stint at ER, and was quoted as follows:-

“He’s a talented player, who has done fantastically well. He doesn’t want to go anywhere, I don’t want him to go anywhere.

“So, as far as I’m concerned, that’s the end of the conversation with him.”

Leeds to part with best part of 3m for Nketiah's services!

Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth has revealed that Leeds paid Arsenal 4m for the services of Eddie Nketiah; albeit with the 20yo returning to the Emirates, the final balance will be closer to 3m.

It just shows that the Nketiah signing was Orta's idea, bot Bielsa's! During Bamfords 10 game drought, Nketiah barely had an opportunity to showcase his talent; its a lot more difficult to influence a game as a second half substitute when you're cold, and have to catch up to the pace of the game knowing you have limited time to make an impact!

If Leeds were happy to pay 4m on a season long loanee, why not sign Ryan Kent. The 23yo has a one in two goal ratio for Rangers since his 6.5m permanent move to the Scottish giants in September and many MOTM awards.

I wonder who wanted Ryan Kent at ER? Bielsa or Orta?

    Happy New Year all :emoticon-0148-yes:

The Eddie affair isn't worth the trouble as there is no blame to lay at anyones feet. Facts are that Bielsa wanted Eddie and Orta made it happen by using a powerpoint presentation highlighting Bielsa coaching strategy for the boy. Arsenal agreed and agreed the financials. Bielsa got what he wanted and remember it was only a season ago that we thought £3m for a player was big money and yet we see Radz shelling out £4m just to loan a player plus pay him £50kpwk the clubs wage ill has doubled in a season and thats a big investment!

Eddie as an impact player is one thing but he cant do what Bielsa wants him to do as well as Bamford. So Bamford will always be No1 until Eddie can do it but his injury not only cost him getting a 4 match run as first choice, it also knocked his development back and after seeing him in the last game and a half, hefails to shine in Bielsas system. So whatever happens I hope he has a great career and he should target the Euros with England. Seems we have wasted almost £3m plus wages on the kid.

Bielsa is Bielsa and if you dont like it its tough. He works only one way and its his way and will not deviate. Would Klich have played so many games under anyone else, would Berardi be CB back up, would Dallas have played all those positions and now be attacking midfielder? Would we have no recognised CBs and obviously much more stuff. But Bielsa has brought pride and passion back and fantastic football and I just think we should shut up and watch it take shape, whatever happens in the end.

Good morning and a happy New Year.

If anyone would like some advice, on New Years Eve do NOT open a bottle of very nice port at 30 minutes to midnight and drink the lot before going to bed at 1am.

Morning all. So Chelsea lost 100m in last year. Despite their overspending, they can compete anymore for the title. Some crap. Half of me wants promotion, half of me never wants to have to look at that crap again. Villa son in law not enjoying it much as I doubt any Norwich fans are either

The only way to play the promotion game unless you have wealthy owners, is to do exactly what Burnley, Bournemouth, Southampton, WBA, Norwich, Stoke, Watford have all done. You invest in what you can afford and plan for being relegated. If you manage to stay up great but if you go down you have parachute payments to plan on bouncing back up. Every year a little bit more improvement until you become regulars like Burnley and Brighton and Watford or Bournemouth. Richer owners allows you to do a Southampton or wolves and remember even a club like Newcastle can get relegated but plan on doing just enough to stay up and carry on picking up huge cash from tv.you can also screw up by thinking you should be in the Champions League and see what happens like Blackburn, Stoke, Wigan, Ipswich, Swansea, Cardiff, QPR, Reading, Fulham..

promotion should mean a proper business plan based upon an affordable budget and have everyone agree the plan even players. Plan on worst case scenario and also year on year improvement and live within your means. Importantly communicate it to fans explaining why you are doing what you are doing and why Messi will not be coming. If you have a rich owner go for it, but look at Wolves and see it controlled not splashed

Agree but it’s a hit or miss plan. No guarantee of bouncing back. Sunderland and stoke are prime examples. Chelsea turnover was 460m and lost 100. Ridiculous

I think if we don't go up this season then it will be another few seasons before we can have a serious attempt.

Let's face it, Nketiah deal was a huge f**k up and it hasn't worked out. It's a lot of money to shell out for only a handful of goals. I'm sure the lad will go on and have a good career.

New years resolution is to finally get a marathon done!

Seriously, if you’re fit for a marathon attempt you’re a better man than me. <applause>

I'm a bit puzzled by the Nketiah situation.

Is there a set date for his (alleged) return, or can it be whenever Arse decide it's going to (allegedly) happen? (i.e. could it even happen in March?).

I guess my puzzlement is based on my assumption that a half season loan should logically end on December 31st, after which it would become a season loan. Big assumption, I know, but still puzzled by what's (allegedly) going on.

If you want a new world record for the marathon, drag a case of ale at the back of the lead motor bike & watch Shak's wee legs go! <whistle>

Players on loan can only be recalled during a transfer window, thus allowing the club that had loaned the player to be in a position to obtain a replacement, thus Arsenal could recall him today, on the 31st January or anytime in between, unless both clubs involved are agreeable to the recall hence why Clarke left a couple of days before transfer window opened.

Half season loans will have a date set in the loan agreement as to when it is terminated. Eddie's loan was for a full season with stipulations that Arsenal could recall him during the January transfer window, if certain conditions were not achieved, thus the open ended date when he can be recalled during the transfer window

Done loads of half marathons and I won a 20 mile event last year. Currently just done with the 10k season (246th out of 1500) Northern 10k Championship in 38:12.

Just need to train for the full marathon.
