I've been making the Ossie comparison for a little while now. I spot 2 defenders....that's definitely going 'the full Ardiles'.
For me, Southampton look a far more balanced team. Strong midfield, Strong wings ( Redmond will take Aurier to the cleaners-red card incoming) and a leading goal scorer. We are in for another torrid afternoon.
It's baffling. He's been literally the solitary glimmer of hope in an otherwise shambles of a back line. Although I've seen a few on Twitter suggesting that Maureen intends to put out a strong line-up for what will be a really tricky game on Sunday, as he sees the FA Cup as the perfect stepping stone to bigger and better things.
Is there anybody who can look at his team selections and see anything logical in them? I'm ****ed if I can. Having picked Dier regularly for weeks, now he's out. I didn't see any meaningful change in his form. He was poor when first picked and remained so against any team that attacked us. We have no like for like replacement. Aurier continues to get picked, no matter what, yet Sanchez is out. Really? Lo Celso makes a start in a woefully unbalanced line-up and plays poorly, it must be said....so he is dropped so that we can give more game time to the departing Eriksen. On the flanks we've got 2 players who couldn't defend if their lives depended on it. If we make another slow start, we're really in trouble today.
Just seen Brighton got a late equaliser against the Chavs. Can we fecking take advantage, for once? Or is that too much to ask?
