No point in doing a Loan Watch thread this season as we only have a few to look out for, 8unlike last season when we had 32 players out at other clubs. With half the season done I thought it would be a good idea to see how they're getting on and if there was a chance any of them brought back to help out for the run-in? LDB - Sunderland - hardly used him so far but busier this month for him with sub appearances. What a waste of space. Coyle - Fleetwood - ever present yet again and a real star turn now in his 3rd season. Captains the side and plays anywhere in the middle but RB specialist and a real fans favourite. Yes he would do a job if brought back but seems he will be allowed to join Fleetwood on a free in the Summer Nessy - Mansfield - Started well but been out injured for a while now and all the speculation about him being the next big thing seems to have died along with his career. Cibicki - Den Haag - Winter break now but after featuring a lot at the start of the season he has mainly been a sub for a while. Pointless him coming home to replace Clarke on this form. Grott - Vitesse - Winter break but being crap and hardly used - what a let down. Mujica - Extramadura - Not used at all in December and hardly pulling up trees back in Spain. He could have been the answer to replace Eddie if he had pulled his finger out. We also have to mention O'Kane who is still at the club and I believe is now fully fit again after his bad injury. Hopefully he wil be sent out on loan or sold. Summary: Grott earmarked for big things has been destroyed by his time at Leeds and now had 2 seasons back in Holland on loan but it aint working. Cibicki has been great in Norway and Sweden blast season but struggling in Holland for some reason. Coyle is a star and deserves a break but in fairness his career will be ok once he leaves. Mujica has let himself and the club down. The rest are wasters
If as you say Grott was 'destroyed' by his time at Leeds then he was destined to fail wherever he was. Need to be mentally strong from a young age to become a successful footballer. Criticism is part and parcel of learning the game. His mental fragility negates his physical attributes. Surprised Cibicki hasn't flourished more though. He's not a bad player tbf.
Why was O'Kane binned off. I thought he was ok. Nothing special but with Shak and Forshaw injured he might have been an option. Is he still training with the club? He's not playing for U23's is he?
We made £33m in transfer fees this Summer and we actually made a profit on quite a few including Idaguchi, Ekuban and loads more as well as releasing some kids.... O'Kane went to Luton on loan with them agreeing to buy him but he had a double leg break and missed almost the whole season and missed pre season too. He is still at the club but told to find himself a move. He trains by himself when at TA but is looked after by Price and his medics at TA. He was actually a better performer that Viera was according to statistics and results, but not fancied by Bielsa
I wouldn't call it joking being scurrilous more like. After we went in receivership or whatever there was a period where had we got back into the premiership we would have had to pay off our debts but that period has now passed and so we wont have to pay off old debts
Something I never understood at that time was why footballers and ex footballers have to be paid in the liquidation process while suppliers, some small ones get screwed. It’s only in football it happens I believe
No idea but I suspect it is something to do with employment law or it could just be a special clause that the FA apply, especially if it has detrimental effects on Leeds.
