So there we have it, contradiction of yourself again. Where you converted a 'CHEAP' 12 string, which is slightly beyond me why you converted it, but hey, maybe you was a young confused David Bowie, that didn't quite get the idea of a 12 string. Then you bought another guitar for £100! Talk about hypocrite.
I'm curious here, piskie, brb and pieguts, all seem to know quite a lot on this, so i'm guessing you can all play quite well?
To get really good at anything requires commitment and dedication. If you don't have that, it won't matter how good the equipment.
You only started setting up at 7pm ? Gigs for me would start around 1pm loading all of the gear up from the studio, driving to the venue, setting up, sound checking, couple of hours break for some speed pints and a line of something sparkly. Then play the gig, encores etc. Then DJ's until 6am ish. At some point during the next day we'd gather ourselves enough to pack down the gear back into the vans. And then usually onto somebody else's house for more some more drugs
Yeah, it was far from ideal. Which is why I say that I speak from experience when I say that a badly set up instrument will hinder your progress. That said, the 12 string was great for learning open chords, which is all I learned with it. I hadn't, at that stage, made any commitment to doing anything other than strumming out a few songs. I didn't really begin to progress until I bought the Fernandes, some twelve years later. I started my education on the guitar fairly late.
You played the matinee gigs, yeah? Not quite top billing, mate. Even the DJ got a better slot than you ffs! We were the headline act, Pixie. Numero uno, yeah.
I can’t play a note on a guitar but I am reasonably proficient on a drum kit, although I haven’t got the bottle to get up on stage. The principals are the same whether you play a recorder or have a million dollar piano like Elton John. It’s about desire and commitment which makes you proficient, not the equipment
Who the fcuk are Baz, Waz and Gaz? The other guys are Lez, Daz, Rob, Matt and Piotr. Piotr (or Pete) is Polish, and he is by far and away the best bass player I have ever worked with.
