Everitt’s USP (in his own mind) is twofold - he “cares more” than mere hirelings, albeit professionally qualified ones - because he is a fan. I worked for a PLC for six years in an industry that attracted its fair share of anoraks & obsessives - we wouldn’t have let them within a mile of the SMT. Why should Charlton be any different ? - Valley Express was a success and was his idea. The latter may be true, the former most certainly isn’t.
What was the settlement, out of interest? I can't remember. I wouldn't have minded seeing the spivs taken to the cleaners, so why didn't he?
The clock is ticking down on the takeover, no doubt the relevant parties would have put feelers out for what makes for a successful behind the scenes at The Valley. Enter Rick Everitt.
Rick Everitt is a very good public speaker, a talent which often propels aspiring politicians up the greasy pole. The trick is to use this talent in the right way. Some do some don't.
I very much doubt it after the last issue of VoTV ! Not an employee I would ever want at our Company.
He denies that he's after a job at Charlton. Sour grapes maybe, but the whole idea is a complete no-no, I don't know why the subject keeps getting raised, unless it's for a bit of wumming. VOTV is a decent fanzine which sells in thousands, presumably he's doing quite nicely out of it.
If he's started on the new owners before their feet are even under the table he's stupid as well as embittered.
I don't think he has forgiven Charlton for giving him the sack. Why not just let the new owners come in and get on with their job. FFS give them a chance. All this guff about Matt Southall having no money. He is the appointed Chairman he doesn't have to have any money.
No wumming on my part. I genuinely think Everitt would be an asset, AND also would not have had so many problems with the squirrel if she utilised him properly.
