Looks personal, Bob Cheval comes on here confirming what Smug is saying and he rolls over to have his tummy tickled.

Yeah this is how I've been thinking about how he must be feeling. He's got no allies left really and he's staring into a financial abyss, not the most appealing scenario if there's someone offering a way out.

Bloody difficult thing running a football club at the best of times never mind when it's all going tits up, you're broke and the fans are sending you formal requests to leave.

They don't spend it for nothing mind - I worked for Deloitte and having both them involved with a top London Law Firm will not have been peanuts - investors do not give the money away that easy - I wish they did

Has he actually came out with a statement. The club has been up for sale for a year. It's some journalist 're hashing.

Anything he still owes to the club would be offset against what he sells it for, so he actually receives less. It will be a condition of the sale.

The problem with that is by many accounts, FPP don't appear do value us at anywhere near £35m, and there is a minimum value he needs to break even.

If he can't pay, they get the club for no extra cash. They don't pay him anything else. They've effectively bought the club for the value of the loan, so around £9m.

Plus they would have the ability to administer the debt that Donald has incurred to the club. The charge sheet indicates that they could hold that over him via his holding company, and for £20m+, I would imagine that's not something Donald would risk leaving to someone else to decide.

My gut feeling says he already knows FPP have no intention of taking us on right now and that he is proceeding as if that is the case. I do wonder whether he might find someone to take on the FPP debt on behalf of him and Sartori, with the carrot there to get it right. I doubt madbob knows much about the inner workings, but it's far from inconceivable that Donald would send back the unspent cash (which I hope is the vast majority) and make sure FPP can't dick him over.

It is new, a journalist has made the claim with a quote from Donald about doing it with a heavy heart. I haven't seen any official statement but it's not a rehash and there hasn't been a hint of a denial from Donald.

My point was more about how much it costs to get it wrong. I have no doubt they liked the idea and from the outside see us as attractive, I'm also sure that they were going to get as much detail as possible on a potentially very complicated acquisition. Nobody enters these deals without knowing that will be a cost.

Yeah there's surely no chance a journo would publish anything like that unless it came from SD himself. Also fits with the stand off between him and the fanzines

Could it be the reason he wanted to do a podcast with Roker Report in the first place?

Maybe he will sell out to sartori.
With his background and connections one can only begin to imagine what would transpire.
An iron curtain oligarch as FiL and himself from a 'very well connected' south american family.

That may be a good option but it won't happen.

Donald checked with Sartori before announcing that he wants to sell the club.

    Sartori wants out I'm afraid.

He's had plenty of time to get involved and hasn't, were looking at a whole new regime.

    There are two possibilities here.

Either Donald himself appointed two new directors whilst, at the same time, contemplating the sale of the club ...

... or the directors are actually there as a condition of the FPP 'loan' and are protecting that investment.

If it's the former then it's incredibly discourteous to two Sunderland supporting people who were thrilled to be on board.

If it's the latter, it actually makes sense.

The last credible message I've received is that the Americans are interested in taking control.

If that's the case, you'd hope the new directors will remain and form the core of the new regime.

If not, we have two liabilities who will be linked to Donald and are performing no useful role.

As far as I'm aware, since their appointments, Donald hasn't mentioned them or been seen with them.

The appointment statement was from 'the club' and, as things stand, I've no idea who or what that is.

Or have I missed Donald and the new lads at the match and pictured together at the SOL.

Whatever the case if any money is spent, in the transfer window, it would suggest that FPP are behind it imo ...

    ... time will tell.

  16. I don't know about anyone else on here, but I'm thoroughly pissed off with all this. All I've ever wanted is to have a pride in my club and to see exciting, attacking, winning football....and it seems so long ago now since we've felt it or seen it, I've almost forgotten what it feels like.
I'm fed up with these ****ing people dobbing in and out of the club, speaking double talk all the time,us not understanding what their real intentions are,the club lurching from one speculation to another and no-one ever making it clear what the plan is and whether or not they're going to stick to it.Contradiction upon contradiction, cloak and dagger stuff at every turn, are none of them capable of replacing their horrible greed with honesty, giving their word and sticking to it.
    Despicable behaviour all round.

I'm just hoping that the Americans feel enough is enough and just take over....Just looking from the outside (with zero knowledge of the complex financial situation) it seems Donald saying publicly he is looking for a buyer is asking these guys to step up their interest in club and let him leave.Come on Yanks...us fans have had enough now...lets have some good times now, we deserve it.

I totally agree but this is modern football and it's the same from Bury to Newcastle.

As the Mags have recently demonstrated supporters will put up with all manner of corruption if the team is winning.

Man City supporters couldn't care less what human rights outrages are committed by their owners ...

... a few trophies and they're just a great bunch of lads.
