In Sundays programme, Radhi said he is expecting this season to be his last - backed up by a further interview with Sky Sports (which unreliably said he will start tonight) but says he wants to complete his management coaching licence or whatever it is in England 1st and foremost this season To be honest, I was expecting this and I can't see Jaidi having too many games to play this season. Thoughts?
I'd like to think we may offer him a coaching role once he's qualified. I could see him being a very good coach.
With respect, how do you know he would be a good coach. I dont see a point in jobs for the boys unless they have a proven track record.
He is 36 to be fair. Fair play to him, hope he enjoys retirement. He's had a great career - He's played in the Premiership and two world cups. He has also won the Africa Nations with Tunisia. Few players could say they've had those experiences.
I agree with the first part but if he has the capacity to teach others, the ability to communicate what he wants the players to do he should be judged on that and fits into where ever he's going. A proven track record can mean very little (eg Strachan at boro).
Of course there's a point in "Jobs for the boys", who else is more qualified to teach young saints players than someone who has had a great career, and cares for the club? If he shows the right attributes, we should definitely look at recruiting internally. If Man U do it (ole gunnar solskaer etc.) then it can't be a bad idea.
Anyone with a SaintsPlayer subscription will tell you how big a prescence Jaidi has at the club. Quite possibly the funniest player at Southampton, always involved in all te practical jokes and all the players seem to respect him, especially the young ones. Would be great to see him stay on at the club in a coaching role IMHO, just what the big man deserves.
I am so sorry for Jaidi missing the start of this season, because someone went in too hard during a friendly! By the time he's fit, he'll struggle to get into this team. He earnt the right last year to enjoy our Championship season..sad indeed.
