Looks like we caught another break with VAR!

Just seen Zaha’s disallowed goal. And Pukki’s for Norwich. Both should have stood

I can’t see a single positive to VAR, plenty of negatives though.

At the time a group of us in the Kingsland saw it as offside and were giving dogs abuse at the lino! Looking at the replay it was closer than we thought at the time, but as Lineker said "His arm was offside"

What I will say though is in real time from the Itchen where I sit (about half way between the halfway line and edge of the area), I said straight away that he looked offside.

The AR was though on the other side of the pitch. I'm not claiming I can tell an armpit offside in real time, but my gut (not rose tinted glasses) was that he was off.

I think the whole of The Chapel thought he was off. But he wasn’t. We got a completely unjustified stroke of luck.

In all the previous VAR decisions that have gone our way this season, I reckon they were all correct. In fact some of them were so obvious they shouldn't have needed VAR. But today's was a joke, I would have been really pissed if a ruling like that had gone against us.

Am I right in saying that it's only a goal scoring part of the body that can be considered when deciding offside or not? If so his hand couldn't have been offside.

var will kill off football as we know it if this continues. fans are falling away already.
the spectacle and excitement is dying, and all because of the tiniest margins

VAR was a terrible idea. 4th official should be enough, sometimes you get the rub of the green and sometimes you don’t.

It may get better but as a spectator sport football is better off without it.

Djenepo is a more physical player than Boufal, who needs a bit of space to dance around.

Armstrong to me is potentially a better version of Stephen Davis, definitely an attacker but a decent all around player box-to-box.

Boufal is a guy who because of his dribbling skills can be given the ball in deeper positions and run it up the wing for you. He needs space, but if he gets it watch out.

They all have their uses. For the first time in many seasons, I am not worried about our attacking options.

In agreement, Zaha goal should stand based on that angle, the same as Kane's should have last weekend.

Whateber happened to benefit of the doubt to the attacker? An armpit offside is really dumb

For all this talk of armpits, Zaha's foot was offside too.

Offside is still offside......and when we get a ruling as such goes against us,we won’t have any excuse to argue.

Where would we be now if it wasn’t for VAR?
I always thought we were dealt a bad deal from refereeing decisions and VAR has proven it as we are the team who has benefited the most from its introduction
On another subject, JWP, what a game he had again yesterday

Totally agree. Felt very aggrieved for Pukki & and to be honest, don’t really agree with CP’s goal being chalked off. Whether you want to say VAR is dogshite or the VAR Rules are, it’s all the same. Ps. I was originally an advocate.

Also, can someone confirm when the offside rule actually changed to include all parts including fingernails? I can remember “daylight” (yes, I’m getting on a bit).

That Pukki one is the worst one I've seen yet - when it's that close they can probably literally pick which frame of the player striking the ball and get a different outcome.

You keep saying it will improve, after how many matches do you think it will be until it's of gross benefit to the game? Cos it's ****ing miles from that now. Remember you originally said there'd be a huge improvement after just a handfull.

We've had well over 200 so far so will it be 500 matches? 1000? 5000?

I've given it plenty of time and I don't see how it will improve especially as they're not bringing in the time limit - it's ****ing dogshit <ok>

I think the draw was a good result in the end. In most circumstances, I would have been disappointed not to have won but I felt it was the best home performance by Saints for ages against a very well organised team who were unfortunate to have had a goal disallowed. Saints played really well with the only disappointment being the fact that neither Ings nor Adams were able to add the final touches to the amount of possession we enjoyed in the first half. In the light of the unlikely Chelsea win, a point was satisfactory although not as pleasing as the fact that we are now playing as a team that seems to know what it is doing. We are going in the right direction and I hope we get some joy out of a difficult January fixture list.

It is quite interesting to look at the other teams in the relegation zone. Watford look like they have the momentum to pull clear but with two further injuries yesterday, Bournemouth are starting to look doomed. With Pellegrini bow sacked, I would not be surprised if Bournemouth suffer as a consequence on Wednesday.

I quite enjoyed the last 25 mins of the game, a couple of good saves from their keeper denied us the win.
From the Itchen south the offside looked obvious, hate the VAR wait though even if we gained yesterday.

I did think the ref was bloody awful. Not so much in decisions given as looking weak and allowing oodles of time wasting by Palace. Zaha is a right little moaner with all the maturity of a 6yr old getting the wrong christmas pezzie.

The spirit of 'Chicken' George lives on in Djenepo.
