Was at the game today (as usual) Grealish needs a transfer to a team where he is not the main man, today he was petulant, spiteful and amazingly arogant for a player in that shambles of a team, he should have had 2 or 3 bookings before halftime and he should have been sent of for kicking the ball at Sarr's head from a yard away Used to like Villa but now I hope they drop down to where they belong and Norwich stay up with us
Just jogging the memory, the last time we beat Villa 3-0 at home was 50 years ago which was our first win in the old second division - how many of us were there on that day ? The Watford Observer had the headline the next day 'Aston Vanilla, the team everyone likes to lick'.
I think I probably was there. Goals from Tom Walley and Keith Eddy finished off with an og. It is difficult to remember all of the many games you did actually go to.
They had a guy who played for the club 65 years ago at the game! Tbf he looked pretty well for someone probably in their 80s.
I remember Bill Shipwright playing in the 1950's. He was born in 1932 and played over 150 times for Watford as a centre half or full back. I was rather sad when he went to Aldershot for the 1959/60 season.
Interesting stat from yesterday's win about Christian Kabasele. His passing accuracy was 100% (31/31).
Made me laugh so much how Villa played on and then super "speedy" Deeney used their player, who was on the ground, to stay on side to make his lung busting run to win the pen.
The Attitude of Villa players and staff during the game stank i must say.. What message are they giving out to the public ? Be bad losers...?
I’m trying to be very modern, and not notice her gender, but she is rather lovely, isn’t she? And she is definitely one of the better pundits.
I agree with both of you. It’s worth a rewatch that incident. Someone pointed out that while Grealish probably didn’t see Targett, once the ball was with Kabasele he offers to put it out, but the Villa player (who had seen Targett down) challenged CK for the ball rather than let him kick it out, so CK thought “Well if you’re playing on, so am I!” At which point he plays it forward to Sarr (I think) who then plays it to Troy. Kabasele had no obligation to play it out, and, despite Smith’s protestations, I don’t think for a second his players would have done. But CK did offer. They chose not to accept that offer. So be it.
