It is very revealing how they are nigh on identical at safc. all highly regarded on appointment we were told, all knew the league we were in at the time and all a complete failure at safc this type of manager never has nor ever will succeed at safc Donald can have that free from me. it took five mins to research it
We are seen as a hard crowd to please, but all we want is some effort by the players on the pitch. A manager that actually gets our club. We are not world beaters but we expect something for our money. Parky is not the sort of man the club need, and he's proved it. Wilko and Grayson were the wrong appointments at the time as well. We needed a manager with fire in his belly then and more importantly we need this kind of manager now. Until we get a head strong manager in that takes no crap and gets what he wants (within reason) we are only heading down. The problem with the sort of manager we need is that the owner or owners are normally scared of this sort of appointment.
Parky is without doubt the worst in our history now, and i saw Wilkinson etc, and i would tell him to his face if i get the chance. Bizzarly i said give him 15 matches not 2.5 years and he will be gone if we lose on Sunday. Jesus can this get any worse ?.
I would say Buxton and Butcher were in the same category tbh. I maintain that while we have hill advising donald, dull uninspiring managers like PP and Ross will continue to be served up.
What they’ve done elsewhere is of no interest to me. My point being they are clones. Fa coaches badges by the bucket load, but all, have the same dull outlook, no connection to safc as players, fans or as managers. On arriving we were told all of them knew the league we were in at the time, highly regarded etc etc. These type of managers never have nor ever will succeed at safc Wilkinson and Grayson were sacked but set the teams up for certain relegation I know you disagree with this but if parkinson is still at safc in May, league 2 beckons Ten points from third bottom. Next four games looking as likely defeats on current form and all evidence given by Parkinson and the team since his arrival those are the facts of the matter, which are proven above. Personally I can’t accept safc playing and being in the current position. There is zero prospect of any half decent player coming here under parkinson. He has to go
Why will they never succeed at SAFC? What is it that makes us so difficult to manage? Bearing in mind that no one’s managed us effectively for longer than half a season since heaven knows when
Coaching badges are no guarantee of success but neither is a connection to the club. In fact, on the list of things that you'd look for in a manager, that would be quite a long way down the list. What connection did Reid or Keane have to the club before they managed here? Allardyce's was only tenuous. The 'dull outlook' is a red herring too. Wilkinson, who won the league with Leeds remember, took over with the team on the slide. Arguably, so did Grayson. They didn't have the ability to halt the slide but that doesn't make them bad managers under different circumstances. Sometimes a manager has to adopt a 'dull outlook' because he doesn't have the players to do anything else. That is the case with Parkinson. He's clearly not up to the job but he's not got the players to make any appreciable change. Just goes to show how wrong we were to want rid of Ross.
As I said, they lack an inspirational character, dull as ditchwater. That’s why reid, big Sam, Keane and McCarthy all the exact opposite
Reid and Keane had character. Those I listed have zero character. I disagree completely that Parkinson is being failed by lack of player ability. He had a clear 12 day period to adopt a style to beat the worst team in the league. Result 0-0. It’s not good enough and he has to go you seriously not saying Wilkinson, Grayson and Parkinson are all completely blameless for their records at safc? the safc crowd saw through Wilkinson, and Grayson within a month. Parkinson is identical. all three on arriving at safc, were stated as knowing the league and were highly regarded. all three demonstrated a total lack of knowing the league and for being highly regarded, by whom? if Parkinson is at safc in May 2020, get ready for league two
No, I'm not saying that they are blameless at all. I'm just being realistic about the situation that each found themselves in. In Parkinson's case, he appears to have coached the team sufficiently that they kept a clean sheet. We've struggled for a goalscorer since Maja left and there appears to be a lack of creativity in the side too. What do you want him to do? Magic goals out of thin air? Parkinson has been crap since he's been here and his previous record isn't great either. Wilkinson clearly had enough character to win the title with Leeds. I'm not saying that we should keep Parkinson or that he should be given time. But let's just try and look at what the problems are realistically.
Three forwards on the bench, playing three man defences with two immobile midfield players in front 12 days to come to that conclusion. We were playing the worst team in the league and scrapped a 0-0 at home That is simply not good enough. There is no semblance of a plan to actually dominate a game or even attempt to v the worst team in the league next four Doncaster Fleetwood Lincoln Wycombe on form four defeats. We are ten points clear of third bottom do we say Parkinson is best suited to spend whatever limited funds are available and has the ability to win another 10 games this season to stay in league one? If Parkinson is in charge come May, imo safc will be heading for league two. He inspires no confidence whatsoever
I don't disagree with you about most of that. As per my original post, I disagree with the idea that connection to the club is somehow some kind of magic solution. I also disagree with the 'dull outlook' comment. The first thing a manager will do when coming into a new club, particularly one that is out of form, is to make them hard to beat. That's why it looks dull. It looks particularly dull when you've got no in form forwards and a limited choice in midfield. Parkinson is useless, yes. But I don't think we can assume that a different manager is going to get drastically different results at this stage. We had the man for the job and he was driven out.
