I don’t think any new manager would put his faith in youngsters as soon as he walks in tbh Plus everyone seems to think we have a talented squad..which is true..so it’s even less likely that youngsters will be getting much game time when Jose thinks all he needs to do is tap into their weak minds and fix that. He’s only been here 6 weeks. I understand that the CM issue is costing us...but I thought we all agree that we need a quality DM? Therefore it’s the personnel that isnt fit enough to play the system, no?
I don't even think it's this. It's the system itself and the other personnel in it. Aurier's basically playing as a winger, which means that Sissoko ends up at right-back, leaving one man in the middle. It's hardly surprising that we get overrun in those circumstances. We need to either commit to playing three at the back with wingbacks or switch to a proper back four. This lopsided system has been found out by better sides and it's getting exposed constantly now. If Aurier can't be trusted to play his position and he proabably can't, then he needs to be replaced or we need to change the position. Put Walker-Peters or Foyth in or pick Rose/Sessegnon on the other wing and have some bloody balance. The front four is excessive and ends up getting starved of service most of the time. One of them needs to be removed, at the very least. Son's suspended, so he's volunteered himself.
See below. "He even got tactically outclassed by Frank Lampard." Actually worse than that. He dogmatically chose a starting XI / formation that even idiots such as us said well before KO that if he played thus, the outcome would be as it was. "You say he needs time and players but he’s already wasting some of the good players he has at his disposal yet persisting with Dier and Sissoko and not giving young prospects any game time at all." Pragma over dogma, always. If the manager cannot play his desired way because of no "signings" , "not his squad" , < insert excuse here > , then choose a formation that will get the job done for most PL opponents, and use others for the more difficult opponents. So far I have seen plenty of dogma, and little of the famed "special one" .
The obvious issue with the asymmetrical fullbacks is the player in front of them is as important as the fullback Aurier could certainly play his game if he had Lamela or Sissoko on the right flank as they do the nitty gritty to allow it Aurier absolutely cannot play his game with Lucas on the right flank as he rarely defends and always cuts too far inside to do it anyway In comparison, the left flank is reasonably solid with Verts filling in for Davies that allows Son/Sessegnon to play their games While a DM is clearly desperately needed, the right flank in general needs looking at as the Aurier/Lucas pairing is either leaving a gap on the right flank or a leaving a gap through the middle as Sissoko's having to come out wide to plug the gap - and to be honest I put more of the blame for this on Lucas
Admittedly he hasn’t been manager very long at all so I may sound harsh, but Spurs need a rebuild and freshening up, is Jose that man? Usually he’s at a club where he can go out and buy one of the best in their position (and they’re usually nearer 30 than 20) he won’t have the money to do that at Spurs and the ‘vision’ at Spurs isn’t that either. It’s always been to buy up and coming with a view to improving them. He just doesn’t fit the club at all and I can’t see how this ends except in an expensive failure.
I'm beginning to think that Lucas should be used as backup for Alli in this system, as he tends to thrive in similar positions. He's currently being used as an old-fashioned inside forward and it's leaving our midfield wide open, despite his hard work. I'm struggling to think of how we can fit our best players into the team without having any of them out of position.
Lo Celso makes more sense on the right if we're playing Aurier, as he has far better positional sense and is better at pinging the ball around
Transfer Dominoes Watch There's rumours going around that Lille are looking to sign Olivier Ntcham from Celtic so they can fill the Boubakary Soumare-shaped hole they're expecting to materialise in January Meanwhile, there's also rumours going around that Celtic are looking to bring back Victor Wanyama, as Hertha Berlin have agreed a deal for Granit Xhaka (according to Xhaka's agent) rather than bringing in Big Vic Surely we couldn't manage to fix two issues in the space of one window that easily?
"Please sir...I know the answer..." " RCL? Good lad...you ususlly don't put your hand up...go on son" " the answer is YES sir..." Looks proud! "Oh dear RCL...maybe next time let the cever kids answer eh?" My childhood folks
I never said nuffink at skool. I didn't do much of anything either. One of my reports said..."This boy knows exactly the meaning of the word 'enough'." My father beat the crap out of me....it changed nothing.
I said nothing too and sometime wrote even less I once summarised a whole terms work in Chemistry in a single sentence! The teacher wrote below it in red ink You Lazy Idle ........ I laughed - my parents were not so amused when he showed them! I didn't do Chemistry O level - even though my dad was a chemist and my brother has a degree in it - each to their own I say

As in signing him permanently, not a loan Oh joy, six more months of Aurier...
Nemanja Matic opens door to Man Utd exit during January transfer window https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/nemanja-matic-opens-door-man-21191083 He needs a move and Spurs desperately need a DM
I have a horrible feeling we'll see a deal involving Matic plus cash for Eriksen in January, which I'd be dead against. I wouldn't mind Matic on a short-term contract (12-18 months) in principle, without Eriksen heading in the opposite direction. He's past his best but definitely still better than Wanyama and would run Dier close too. It's also important to have a couple of wise old heads on the training ground who have been there and done/won it all, and Matic fits that description nicely. He'd be a good stop-gap for the rest of the season while we try to find a long-term solution to DM.
I don’t want Matic at all as he slow and getting on (ex Chelsea ) but if it’s cash and Matic for Eriksen then I may resign from being a Spurs and retire from watching football
I’d bank a lot of money on that not happening. Eriksen is too good for Man Utd. He wants to leave Spurs for medals and titles and right now Utd have just as much chance of winning stuff as we do. He already turned them down in the summer too according to reports, as he’s apparently said he won’t join another English team. I think it’s Real or Juve for the Dane.
