Thought earlier it looked a bit odd but I think the idea was to say 'in his blood' as in the club. Well that's about the only thing I can think of anyway.
Oh that's nice. In the same week that Santa makes his one annual appearance, so too does Connor Wickham.
Rather than giving him a one year contract, I'm guessing they gave him a contract covering a year's worth of games. At his current rate, it will expire at some point in 2034.
It's always weird when a "Where Are They Now?" leads to the shocking discovery that they're exactly where they have been for five years, and contrary to what you thought you remembered, they were not sold to some team in the Championship and then loaned out to the Montenegrin 2nd division or some such.
We're talking football fans here. You're allowed to dislike a team for any reason, a player, manager or something they did twenty years ago. It doesn't have to be rational, the less sense it makes the better as far as I'm concerned. I went to Villa in about 2004, we lost 2-0 and the Villa fans started taking the piss. Haven't liked them since for laughing at me, hope they go down. With regards to Liverpool though, I'm much more mature. Sure, they stole our best players, fans that harp on about how great they were 30 years ago, that famous scouse humour, and the media love in. But it's none of these, I'm above all that. For me, it's those ****in' teeth. Their team dentist must double up as an equine orthodontist. Player, manager, past or present, they all end up with blinding gnashers. You know I really wanted to click like but ..I just.. I couldn't. I just couldn't I'm a terrible person.
I think yesterday marks the start of the wheels coming off for Newcastle. I said a while ago, that I was amazed at how many points they had amassed considering how bad their squad is. I still think they have the worst starting 11 in the league with just a couple of players that really make any difference. Bruce has done brilliantly getting to 25 points, but I reckon the grind starts now. Anyone have any other guesses at the team who will drop off and join the fight?
I’m not sure about Burnley. They might just struggle this season, especially if they lose Wood or Barnes to injury. Maybe this is the year that Dyche’s grip starts to loosen.
Just goes to show what a brilliant job Rafa, and now Bruce, have done/are doing. This is the third season in a row where on paper they should be heading to the Championship. That said, they are both fortunate that their fans let them get away with playing incredibly boring football. The fans seem so focused on Ashley (despite breaking their record transfer twice in 2019), that they don't seem to care about their style of football. Brighton fans, for example, very quickly turned against it with Hughton - after just one season in the PL. And just wait for Sheff Utd fans to turn against it too in the coming years (if not relegated first). It's a great style for keeping you up for sure - indeed, often avoiding a relegation battle altogether - but fans will only accept it for so long.
