Big win today. Our team spirit and never say die attitude is brilliant. We could do without another injury. I hope Gallagher’s injury isn’t serious.
3 fantastic points. When you look at where these players came from, Non-league, the U-23's, lower leagues, and look at the paucity of our bench huge credit is due. A special mention to Pratley for his captaincy. I couldn't see this coming when they went ahead.
Bloody knew it, had a feeling you’d beat us today , nightmare getting their this afternoon, left Bristol at 9 and was at the ground at 14:20, M25 traffic horrendous, and home by 9pm. The things we do supporting our clubs eh. Anyways fair play on your win today we were **** in defence and deserved nothing, but one thing on whoever your announcer is pronouncing all our players name wrong and calling the wrong subs even saying “substitution for Bristol Rovers”, got to be taking the piss surely and the only thing to smile about from today
Pleased to see that my doubts about Taylor's commitment were completely unfounded. Outshone by Bonne today but totally committed to the cause.
Fair play to you and your boys, I was at home listening and reading reports, we were ****e in parts of the game and you thoroughly deserved your victory, well done and a pat on the back for all of our fans that made the effort to get to the game, good luck for the rest of your season.
Proper Boxing Day drama today A decent first half, but I don't think we dominated it as some seem to be saying. The timing of the goal was perfect, a bit against the run of play I thought. Second half we were not alert right from the whistle again. Such a silly way to throw away a hard fought narrow lead. At 1-2 down I could not see much hope for us. Thought it much more likely City would bag a third and the ground would begin to empty early. The only glimmer of hope was that we still had time. I took a few seconds to actually celebrate our equaliser. Thought I saw a shove on one of their defenders just before the ball was knocked in, and for an instant I assumed Stroud would disallow the goal. Could scarcely believe it when he didn't. The linesman on the West stand side might as well not have been there by the way, he was consistently useless for 90 minutes. Dillon at fault somewhat for not blocking out the second City goal, but that aside I thought he had a decent game, and his kicking was markedly better than usual. The announcer is an embarrassment sometimes. The pitiful mumbling when having to 'announce' opposition goals is cringeworthy. Stop poncing about, take a deep breath and just announce it clearly mate. Do your job. Maybe the new owners can do something about him. Anyway, one linesman and our compare aside, it was an enjoyable afternoon at the Valley. Not top quality but a well fought game by both teams. Huge tension at the end, massive relief at a win we needed so badly. I don't know there the lads are going to get the energy to play again this weekend. Looked to me like they gave absolutely everything to scrap out that win.
Albie & Alfie grew into a difficult game yesterday and got stronger in the second half. It was great to see Doughty’s long run rewarded with the winning goal, and Morgan pulled the strings in midfield after Conor was forced off. The emergence of these two has been a real bonus this season, and under an ambitious new owner there must be every chance that we will have them both for a long time. The fact that Bowyer was forced to replace Gallagher with Purrington tells you everything about Ledley’s future prospects. Poor signing, I’m afraid, soon to be out the door.
Bowyer after the game was not very complimentary about Morgan. When a reporter said that Morgan had a good game Bowyer replied do you think so? He then said that Morgan didn't track his man defensively on a number of occasions.
Morgan’s long pass to play in Bonne for his opening goal was a thing of beauty. You cannot coach natural talent like that.
I agree with most of that but I don't think you can blame Dillon for the second goal. Morgan played the ball right into the Bristol players path who finished well. What the main difference between this division and The Championship is the finishing.
Maybe I was a bit harsh on Dillon. It looked bad because the shot went right between his legs even though they weren't far apart. Any kind of deflection and it would probably have flown wide, but the shot was through the eye of a needle.
Yesterday’s very welcome win papered over a few cracks. Our defence is very poor. When was the last time we kept a clean sheet ....Derby at home. We need to score 2 or 3 to win a game. Apart from Lockyer the rest of our defenders are much of a muchness.
