Attempts to build up momentum continue to be frustrated in a patchy run of form but McCann stressed that his side are still headed in the right direction.

“This league is very, very difficult and over the last 12 games we’ve won six of them,” said City’s head coach.

“I don’t think that’s too inconsistent, that’s quite good going. But we need to make sure we respond from this.

“We were inconsistent in the first 10 (games of the season) but we’ve got a wee bit better. Yes, we’ve lost today and lost three points but we’ve got plenty of time to make it up.”

If they'd have had Irvine today we'd have won - can't understand why he took Batty off - I know he said tactics but Irvine was screaming to be taken off - we desperately need a central midfielder and a striker in the transfer window

ON GIVING HIS PLAYERS CHRISTMAS DAY OFF…
It’s a day to be spent with family. I trust the boys. To bring them away from their families for an hour or two on Christmas Day – it’s not worth it. We’ve worked very hard over the last two or three days in preparation for the game on Boxing Day and the boys know exactly what we expect of them. We’ll be in here on Boxing Day morning for a couple of meetings on set-pieces etc, the team will eat together and we’ll be good to go.

I expect forest stayed overnight in a hotel
    Focussed?? I expect
    Worst performance of the season

To be expected that we won at the Hull Ground, Nottngham- it's our easiest away win.

Likewise when they come here , expect an away win.

Hull were off colour, but Nottingham were a disgrace. As has been said, it was almost like watching vintage DQPR or some other time wasting cockney ****s.

Embarrassed to be a football fan the way their players were conning the officials.

Has it come to this? Fluke a pen in the first ten mins, then try and waste as much time as possible by pretending to be injured for the remaining 80 mins?

Thank **** I don't have to watch that ****house of a team every week. It must be soul-destroying knowing your team are con men.

Much rather watch our erratic inconsistent team. Proud to call myself a Hull supporter. Results mean **** all.

it’s that rolling around on the floor from players that ****ing annoys me about football. I hate seeing our players do it, any players. It’s just ****housery and it needs clamping down on.

Very quiet away fans most of the time, despite leading.

Think they knew in their hearts of hearts it was a tinpot win from a club still vainly believing their bullshit 70s pedigree.

The magic's gone. They'll never even qualify for Europe again, let alone win the European Cup.

Reduced to conning the officials and the paying public.

Shabby beyond belief. Clough must be turning in his grave at this set of conmen.

All the players seemed to have had too much turkey .
Now, I realise that this is not the case and they would have trained at least part of yesterday and not indulged, but they played that way.
Too many misplaced passes and Irvine was particularly culpable, but wrong to single him out.
Just generally poor all round though forest made it difficult with a pressing game.
Not Terry's fault for me, this one was on the players.

Yes it’s **** to work on Christmas Day when everybody is having a drink and enjoying themselves. I should know I worked plenty over 30 years. But being a professional means proper preparation whichever job you are in. Proper preparation prevents piss poor performance. I think Terry got this wrong. Also we did not get the whole summer off.
He is not their mate he is the manager of a football club. It’s his job to prepare the team for Boxing Day.

Oh dear - oh dear - oh dear, that was a shocker, second best all over the field. I wouldn't mind any team being better than us, but Forest was also poor. I must say I agree with Chazz, I have always thought of giving them the day off was a mistake. I remember Phil Brown giving them the day off priory to in infamous Man City boxing day game, they just didn't turn up. Just bring them in for a couple of hours keeps them focus on the job, giving them the whole day off, IMO just lets them switch off mentally.

The only player I felt a little sorry for was Batty being taken off, he IMO was probably the better of the 3 midfielders. Irvine should have been shepherd crocked as he had a shocker.

Unfortunately, we are prone to these performances, and that will be our Achilles heel in the end of getting into the playoffs unless Grant finds a way of eradicating these bad days.

Let's hope they turn up performance-wise at QPR.

Batty took a heavy knock from Grabban end of first half jon. maybe injured.
Irvine did have a poor game but he kept going till the end when a lot were giving up and hiding,
Hopefully elder is ok as Kingsley is awful

According to Grant in the Burnsey post match interview, he was OK and it was tactical.

Yeah, I noticed the physio had barely looked at Elder and Kingsley was.strippped and ready. Not sure what the offers tactically rather than Elder?
