Cheer up, lads! This is one less distraction for us. What with our demolition of LFC and Arsenal having started their bottle-job early, Harry should be concentrating on the first XI and in securing that 4th place. Is there any glory in the League Cup any more? I'm not saying that I wouldn't have liked a win tonight, but I can't say that I'm overly disappointed that we lost.
He's had a ridiculous amount of support from the Spurs fans SNIAW, who would often sing songs about him when he wasn't even on the pitch. Crouch is the one who got far too much stick.
Can't say that I share that point of view, HIAG. It was a fairly tough draw and we fielded a decent team and did ok for most of the game, but the substitutions were a little strange and the nature of the loss is very annoying. I understand that Sandro and van der Vaart were both withdrawn because they're just back from injury, but our midfield sounded very strange after that and Pavlyuchenko's lack of effort should surely have seen him come off. I think that this game was there for the taking and we've thrown away a chance to win some silverware far too early.
Not really annoyed but i think from what everyone could hear Pav was S*** and Gomes is well "Gomes" and some of the youngsters played ok.
6/8 penalties scored, did no one at Spurs teach them how to miss penalties? Pav and Luongo are Spurs through and through.
I've had a whole day of having to be sensible I had to deliver a keynote speech to 200 people earlier This is my chance to be silly
Crouch is actually quite crap in the air, SNIAW. His main problem for us though, was that he can't play up front on his own. He needs someone alongside him with pace to get the best out of him. When he partnered Defoe it was very hard for a lot of teams to deal with, because the best way to deal with each of them is totally different. Pavlyuchenko is undoubtedly a talented player, but he just doesn't perform often enough and he's quite frequently either anonymous or just poor. His attitude is appalling.
I had to deliver a keynote speech to 200 people earlier ------------------------------------------------------------ ...not a pizza then?...day off?
Went to game last night and I can tell you all Pav was dreadful, I have stood up for him for years but last night was dreadful! We would have prob been better playing Kane or even Cudicini up front he was that poor. Neither team was any good, Stand out spurs player for Spurs was Kaboul. Everything that came into box he dealt with even with the baby giraffe on the pitch. Young Carroll didn't have the greatest game but I suppose that is expected against Stoke, Townsend looked very good when he came on.
Seriously, how did Pav ever get the "super Pav" chant? What were we thinking? He can't hold the ball up because he has no strength and his first touch is atrocious. 9/10 of his efforts hit "row z". He spends the entire game jogging at a slow pace and never closing the ball down cause he's lazy. he can't header the ball and has no aerial ability what so ever, but some how... He's super Pav, just because every now and again he scores the odd good strike. Pathetic. I used to try and defend the guy, but he's had more than enough chances now. We might as well play with 10. He does more harm than good.
You need a new manager more than you need to replace Pav. Substitutions & tactics were amateur at best and Pav needs better individual man management.
Harry is actually better than the average manager at getting the best out of players. But it is a generic weakness of football managers to simply deal with attitude problems by moving the player on, rather than earning their money and motivating the player. Pav was good enough to score goals for Russia at the Euro finals FFS but he's always blown hot and cold for us. I'd attribute that more to the way we've treated him than his abililities as a footballer.
I'm sorry we're out, but it was a tough draw, so no surprise. I rate Crouch higher than Pav, and Crouch is good in the air BTW, far better than Pav. I've never subscribed to the 'superpav' view, and tend to find the chant hilarious, expect when he does do something brilliant, which he is capable of. I don't blame Harry over Pav, I blame Pav, though doubtless he will have some excuses, reasons, arguments against Harry. Ade is way better than Crouch and Pav, but we are now massively reliant on him. Just hope VDV can start scoring soon to help us in that department.
It's a catchy tune and we all like a good sing-song. He was my favourite player a year ago; the wonder-goals were special. He is the exact player I would be if I played for Spurs and for that reason alone, he shouldn't pull on a Spurs shirt ever again.
