Thanks Wakey but maybe remind me tomorrow. Bit worse for wear tonight. 4 generations of Leeds fans eating the dinner
That's true Ristac, when Phillips passes sideways and backwards most are short distances, even he shouldn't be missing his target. By rights, he shouldn't miss reaching the keeper either......
I don't believe Leeds are that great at investigating it, perhaps that haven't invested in the internal resource to be fully supportive of fans. We also experience it, for example, there were problems at the Fulham game from Fulham fans on Eddie.
I have a feeling Barnsley will get something today. They've had a couple of decent results in December.
Part of the problem is we've all become too accustomed to it and therefore tend to just shrug it off. It's just too easy to think, oh Eddie will be ok, he's a successful footballer on shedloads of money so surely he can put up with a bit of racism. The problem is just too deeply ingrained in our society that I wonder if it can ever truly be eradicated. What worries me perhaps more (if that were possible) is what you alluded to in another post. If it's filtering down to the grassroots game how does a player there cope/deal with such abuse ?
There was a recent conference at Millwall. Not all clubs turned up across the EFL. Not sure that we were represented. Don’t think we attended. Mostly senior staff like chairman and mds. Evidently Forest were very supportive in what they are doing with the various charities in this space. At grass roots, stuff happens on the pitch between players and also from the sidelines. Usually ends in a punch-up and locally led investigation. Sometimes it’s the abused player that gets fined as registered with the FA and has reacted to the abuse, while the pitch-side big mouth gets away. It’s on all sides. Needs more community led engagement with clubs through the local networks. Problem is the charities involved get very little funding, less per year than a premier league player earns in a month. At senior club level, some teams need to allocate dedicated resources to this. You can’t be sent a video from a fan showing week after week persistent shouting of the N word by a fan at opposition players and claim you couldn’t hear what was said...... Was discussing this yesterday after dinner with someone who is quite disappointed with our club. Sorry but I should keep to match day thread content now but wanted to respond and also mention that social forums are also being monitored now as well.
If we play up to our usual standard we should have enough to beat the Preston boys who were poor against us in the draw at Deepdale, one shot one goal with their first attempt on target in the 78th minute & somehow we almost contrived to lose that game. We need to take our chances & defend sensibly this time. Do the right things the master has taught his pupils & we'll win it please log in to view this image
It's going to be a tough three fixtures over xmas/new year and keeping the 2 point per game average will be difficult. We fell below that mark earlier in the season and then recovered superbly to exceed it, as we currently just do. Personally I would like to see us not losing (next 3) and if we then manage to win one I would be happy at that.
So, Wendies, Fulham, Bristols and Jacks getting beat at half time. Preston will have the horn for a win today.
Maybe not everyone takes you too seriously because you visit infrequently and when you do you revel in your pot stirring reputation. Maybe, if you want to bring a serious message, and want it taken seriously... you wouldn’t drop by, complain how boring the site is compared to the good old days... and then drop racism clickbait into a match day thread. In short, I’m in agreement with the message, just not sold on the delivery mechanism. Happy for you to stop by, call people out on the outdated and inappropriate terminology on a regular basis. I see it more as a year round job not a gift for Christmas
Barnsley have played decent football most of the season then missed chances and given soft goals away. So far they are outplaying the baggies and losing... something that sums up both sides seasons. Rest of the results are pretty good for us, so far but Brentford are the real threat to come out of the pack and bridge the gap... along with wendies... both have been better than their results this season and both have hit their stride recently Preston have been punching above their weight results wise... would be very disappointed with anything other than 3 points today.
