The ElDesmarque Koulibaly rumours have resurfaced. Their journo probably had a few too many on their work’s Xmas do.

We did find a buyer. A very generous (deluded?) one at that. But he wouldn't take a pay cut to move there.

After so many years of laughing at Arsenal for having so many not fit for purpose players draining their wage bill due to being on too much money to move on, we are suffering exactly the same problems now with the likes of Wanyama and Rose. It is the absolute worst possible age to become baggage as there simply aren't enough years left to rebuild a career so why not stick it out and earn a fortune doing sweet FA. As the money in the PL and our wage ceiling increase exponentially, this problem will become all the more pronounced and protracted. It is why I raised both eyebrows at the news that Toby is on £150k a week for the next 3.5 years. Looking at his current levels of performance, he too won't be fit for purpose a year or two from now, and we'll be left with a high earner with 2 years left on his contract who isn't possible to move on.

The club needs to think long and hard about how to avoid this issue becoming an epidemic. For years, we staved off interest from rival clubs by awarding new long-term contracts at the first sign of a string of decent performances, without stopping to consider the possibility that one day that policy would come back to haunt us. In future, I feel we either need to include clauses in contracts to the effect of saying the player can only turn down a transfer away 3 times or they are in breach of contract and it is void. Something along those lines to protect us from the log-jam of deadwood we've had for 2 years and, like Arsenal, can't afford to finance. And also a return to the era when a player who entered the last 2 years of their contract was sold to the highest bidder, rival or not. To think that Levy went on record saying that Eriksen could move to United and that we fans "shouldn't be scared" was a farcical and cynical slap in the face unless he meant to outline policy moving forward: i.e.: I, the chairman, value a harmonious squad and decent money for reinvestment more than i value a stubborn refusal to strengthen our rivals.

Same outlet now claiming we’re in for Bale (cash + Eriksen).

Journo must have jumped on the Charlie now.

There's a difference between our situation and Arsenal's

Chelsea and Man Utd pay £100k+ a week to players who know they need to take a wage cut to get regular football elsewhere
Arsenal were paying £100k+ a week to players that nobody of sane mind wanted to pay £100k+ a week to
We pay £60k a week to players who would need to take a wage cut to get regular football elsewhere

The easiest way to compare is if you put Wanyama next to Morgan Schneiderlin

Schneiderlin was on £120k a week at Man Utd, so knew he'd have to take a wage cut to get regular football - although Everton offering him £100k a week meant he didn't have to take as big a wage cut as expected
In comparison Big Vic is on £65k a week, and Brugge were reportedly offering £50k, and while that was a smaller figure than what Schneiderlin dropped it was still the best part of 25% of his wages, while Schneiderlin's wages dropped by 1/6

I'm pretty sure I've said it before, but the issue is some of our squad players are in a weird spot wages-wise: they're not receiving absurd amounts to sit on the bench like some players at Chelsea, Saltypool or the Manc clubs, but they're also on higher wages than starters at clubs such as Watford, Bournemouth or Brighton (let alone the vast majority of Ligue 1, Eredivisie clubs and Primeira Liga) and that's what is creating the logjam at moving on players

Oh if you want to be angry, one hack dispensary is saying Los Ladrones are selling Isco to the Chavs in January so they can free up a squad space for Eriksen

Gee, if only there were another way to reach the same end result...

It's as if the club read my post earlier and decided to prove me right.

    Let me see....

'Mourinho not picking Isco, after we buy him' v 'Having to watch Eric Dier do his Honeymonster impersonation for the next few years'

It's not even a fair fight. I'd rather have an unused bench containing Ronaldo, Messi, Bale and Mbappe as well.

The problem is called ENIC under the guise of Levy

They are the problem..no football know how or interest...any success is just a meh by product of the business venture. Can’t wait for them to **** off once they reach their ultimate dream of turning us into an NFL franchise.

    Jose, Poch or ****ing Batman

    Doesn’t matter who’s in charge

Sounds like Clarke is coming back Jan 1st. Then assess whether he’ll be loaned back out or not.

    "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Watch
El Desmarque report that we're in for Varane

I don't think it's humanly possible to explain how much that is not going to happen for at least two years...

    From Stoke's official site:
    Carter-Vickers to return to Spurs
    By Fraser Nicholson

    • Defender to be recalled by Tottenham Hotspur
    • Loan spell to come to an end on January 2
    • 21-year-old featured 15 times for the Potters
Tottenham Hotspur are to recall Cameron Carter Vickers from his loan spell with Stoke City on January 2.

The US international defender made 15 appearances for the Potters, including 14 starts, after moving to the bet365 Stadium in August.

The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank Cameron for his efforts and wish him every success for the future.

Explains why he's been out of the matchday squads for the last two or three games

...although the talk of him being sold may be why we're recalling him

    What a waste of money

Throw in another 5 mill and we could have paid off Dybala’s image rights...since that was the stumbling block

10 mill pissed up the wall when we have a first team to improve

Let’s be honest, he can’t do much worse than the current lot

No team has conceded more goals than Spurs in the league since Jose took over

    9 games including 2 CL matches ...
    Conceded 2, 2 (cl), 2, 2, 0, 3 (cl), 1, 2, 1
    15 conceded...10 in 7 league games
All stemming from our inability to push teams back by controlling the midfield so our defence is constantly under pressure and not protected.

    It’s the players..they are limited

They shipped 10 against Brighton and Bayern under Poch’s magic eye

It suggests that Maureen is not correcting some of the obvious problems we have in midfield just as Pochettino wasn't tbh.

TBF no manager could sort it without the players to do so.
