A very sad day. I spent last night at a Clash/Joe Strummer memorial gig with mates from 48 Thrills, although 'Pete the Bass' was absent in Spain. A great night but we didn't get in until gone 3.30 am and I am deaf and very hungover. Some excellent acts including Brigadé Junk with the Lone Groover, who did an electric set that included Armagiddeon Time, Ghetto Defendant (complete with local poet reading the Allen Ginsberg bit) and to open the set...Look Here. Now that is a new one on me but it kind of worked. Here's the original and The Clash's cover, just for @Spurf ..... 48 Thrills were great as always and played searing versions of Spanish Bombs, Clampdown, Brand New Cadillac and this one.... If you think that you recognise the singer, he was in London's Burning in the early 90's.
I saw a video of Joe And Johnny Cash doing a version of Redemption song but could not get it onto this site , just beautiful
As mentioned elsewhere... Unbelievable! Well, the band are good, anyway. He's decent. A bit Christmas karaoke, but still.
It's Chriiiiisst-Maaaassssss..... Mrs B gave me 'the jumper' for Christmas... please log in to view this image
A mention of Johnny Cash reminded me that my mates and I caught his show some years ago. His "band" started the show, followed by his daughter Roseanne, the ladies, then just as Johnny was due.....the curtain came down.Bomb scare!.So we all had to leave. As we crossed the road to a pub,Johnny went by in a car with his son(?). We returned a while later and the whole family etc were on the stage.Johnny started it off and they gave us a very good show with Mr.Cash in top form.
Today marks the passing of composer Jerry Hyman. This standard, beloved of drunk women, gay men and divas everywhere, is his enduring mark on the world... Despite having a decent voice, Mrs B doesn't Karaoke. However, I've even seen her sing this in public once. Yes, she was hammered and with a group of similarly inebriated mates. Altogether now.......
Our cat is called 'Brave Sir Tigger' on the back of this song and being completely yellow from stem to stern.
