    Agreed.

So we need zero tolerance on this (our) forum otherwise it reflects badly on us all.

Any outdated, old fashioned racist terminology or language should be banned.

At the moment is isn't and that is a fact.

No sense wasting energy and risking the blood pressure rising. Besides give em too much to soon they lose interest.

To be honest Sparkles it's not even funny.

Maybe it's just you and your generation that find all that playground humour somehow amusing ?

Gosh is it casual racism time of the year already? Doesn’t time fly?

You’ll get more bites if you start you a thread on the subject Jammy, but it would need some serious pot stirring to reach last year’s total. Good luck with it.

Unfortunately racism has become more prevalent in football since I started that particular thread.

It's time for zero tolerance, if you're not against racism then in some small way you're culpaple. Turning a blind eye and pretending it doesn't really matter as it's only a few old farts on a forum is just not acceptable anymore.

Our club provides all supporters who attend ER with a hotline to report unacceptable behavour, including racist or homophobic language or jestures etc. This is regularly displayed on the big screen and supporters are encouraged (anonymously if required) to provide the row and seat details of the individual(s) responsible.

Are they really serious about this, or is it just a case of paying lip service and looking good from a PR perspective ?

Personally, I've never heard anything to report and hopefully that means it's not an isssue at ER but somehow I doubt it.

If we use this forum as a barometer then certain posters still insist on occasionaly using outdated and now unacceptable terminology. In fact I would go so far as to say they revel in using such terms as a way of showing defiance at the PC world we now inhabit.

It's a shame some think I'm continually stirring by raising this issue. It's xmas, a time when we're supposed to consider our fellow man and pray for a better world, so for me at least, it seems the perfect time ask for more understanding and awareness in the battle against racism.

Merry xmas to all, wherever you're from, whatever religion you choose and even if you're foolish enough to support another team.

    The race thing in football..

I remember first going to games in the 80's. Crikey! A different world!

Nowadays you don't hear that much if anything. I'm trying to think of the last time I heard a racist remark at ER or Headingley or anywhere at a sporting event. The last one was a Leeds fan in the Kop telling Radebe to run because there was a lion chasing him. Not sure that's racist but I'm sure it had undertones. It drew a mild chuckle in the surrounding seats.

The recent increase in racist chants could be increasing due to the media coverage and the attention drawn to it. The Bulgaria game for England is a great example. England were playing fook about it before it even happened. Then you see England score a couple of goals and the home fans want to see a reaction and some bright sparks start with the chanting. Don't know if they are racist or not but they knew that it would distract the players, ref, authorities enough to maybe create a reaction, stop the game, whatever. Would the chanting have been as bad if England had not mentioned it before hand?

I don't know what the answer is but since the rules about stopping the game and putting out stadium announcements have come in it's possible that people who never thought of shouting these things have suddenly been prompted by this.

I dunno. It's something i wrestle with fairly often. Do you bring attention to it and open it up to a larger audience or let it dwindle out naturally through the generations as we become more multicultural.

    I'm fooled if I know!

It happens a lot and at grass roots level football as well. Leeds have some issues from time to time.
