A point here would be immense. Not expecting anything at all, but we can definitely take the game to them. Nothing to be scared of.
I meant terrible in a "So bad, it's good" sort of way. And infinitely more inventive - if somewhat less catchy - than anything we are likely to hear at St Mary's.
Nostalgia overload for the old gits (like me) on here, I found this little gem on youtube when footballers were real men despite their girly long hairstyles and pitches resembled a mixture between the Somme and a beach.. I love some of the old chants too and the shed at Stamford Bridge. Incidently this was just prior to our cup S/F win against Palace there. Enjoy..
And the return fixture at the good old Dell from earlier in the season, that number 8 for Saints looks a bit of a player.. In the good old days when the PL wasn't the be and end all and 2nd Division matches were shown on MOTD...
I was at that game, in the Archers ! The clip doesn`t show the Chelsea goal - a long range cracker from Ray Wilkens into the Milton end, if I remember correctly.
I did enjoy! Many thanks. Tackles which today would see half the players being sent off, the row of the old blue invalid cars seen near the corner flag, Woolworths advertising, a different era indeed.
Yes very good SA. I enjoyed both of those and as Brinkworth said about the tackles, jeez. It was interesting that the players who were fouled just got up and got on with it unless they were really hurt. Eddie McCready, the chelsea manager looked like someone from a hit squad. Different times and different fashions. I went from watching those to a game between us and Utd which finished 2-2. The thing I liked about that was the crowd. Packed to the rafters (all standing in those days) with loads of suppporters standing on the running track by the pitch. At one time when there was a corner they had to move someone out of the way to take it! When a goal was scored loads ran on the pitch, it all seems so strange now, you forget about those little things.
What people forget (those who praise the aggressiveness of old time football) is that players were often finished with football before they were 30 due to injury and general unfitness.
This one's for a special fan of mine, @Archers Road They tried to make me play a left back I said, "no, no, no" Yes we’ve got Vokins But I prefer Djenepo-po-po I ain't got the time Kevin Danso will be just fine They tried to make me play a left back I said, “no, no, no”
You have a talent ... its not a cut and shut ... it's tidy! or as Groucho Marx once said "This boy could go far ... ... the further the better"
Good to see Harry Reed is helping Fulham beat the Championship favourites Leeds with a good performance But he's not good enough to play for us???
He’s probably playing better than PEH right now, but life just isn’t binary like that. It’s as crazy as saying “if one manager finishes higher in the league than another does, once, then they are better”. Which is why Ranieri isn’t better than Klopp.
